Got out to a trashy park today, and had a good time 1st time this year i was bummed out to see so much junk laying around someone was breaking bottles in the park and they left the dangerous glass shards laying right where people walk and lay down so I spent some time picking the glass up and lots of other trash the bottle bottoms laying in the tall grass jagged side up just waiting for someone barefoot to step on , my three gallon bucket was full but i generally like to do my part and dig meet plugs, and the parks have not harassed me yet

Graet job. I always pick the trash up to. I hate it when slobs make a mess and can not pick up there own trash,,, KEN.?? IND.

Good job sir!! That is the correct image to portray! The last big grade school playground I hunted had a nice basketball court that the "older" kids like to frequent. They had just come from a fast food joint and the hamburger wrappers, sacks, drink cups and bottles were strewn everywhere! I had to lay down my gear and spend thirty minutes cleaning up all the mess so I could swing a coil!
Respect and common sense has left planet earth!

In this hobby, we should all go with the idea that someone is always watching us. The fact is, someone usually is. Good job bro for keeping people safe and creating a positive image for our hobby.

Good job, I may not go as far as you but, I will pick up some surface trash I come upon while detecting parks,I figure it looks good if anyone nearby is watching from behind the shades..

I think those who litter like that would like to live and be at home in the land fill , I have been thru some parts of chicago and its like a dump , and it is really depressing , reminds me of planate of the apes when charlstin hestin see liberty buried, on the shore,

Gunnar, having the park employees seeing me pick up trash while I detect has been the key to my success. If you care enough to pick up the trash they know you are not somebody with their new Wally World detector and shovel ready to dig the place up. Most of the stop by and shoot the breeze with me now. They have told me several times, they can never find where I dig, and rack that up to using a drop cloth and keeping my plugs small.

That drop cloth is key. Or should I say "the icing on the cake".

didn't know wally world sold detectors. i've never seen any in ours. i hunt a lot of parks in the winter when there's not much traffic and several times the next time i come back the few small items i placed in the trash cans have been dumped on the ground by the can so it looks like the park workers are emptying the cans.

It always amazes me that people don't seem to know (or care) what those large round containers with the plastic bag liners are. Back in the day we called them Trash Cans. The custom was to pitch anything you didn't want to take out of the park into them and leave the area a little better than you found it.....it's the right thing to do.

Around here the skate parks and football practice fields are the worst. Plenty of trash cans but most trash goes on the ground for someone else to clean-up. Baseball and soccer fields are usually left in fairly clean condition by those who use them. I'm not sure why the difference but it is very noticeable.

Good on all who pick up the trash and help keep the parks and school yards clean.

Having had to clean up garbage for a living in the past, and having worked as a parks personnel just picking up trash left behind by slobs a few feet form a empty trash can. I still will pick up other peoples trash .

id you see what is going on now , someone is putting razor blade in the grass and tapping them to playground equipment, ? they showed people with metal detectors finding the razorblads 7 removing them
