Why doesn't Garrett offer

Why doesn't Garrett offer special order coils with extended coil cables for the AT Pro? I know a lot of AT Pro users would buy them, especially water hunters. It would really take some weight off the old arm and could be pushed through the water easier. It would also get the readout numbers closer and a lot easier to read.
 
I don't know why Garrett wouldn't make a a coil with a longer coil cable. You may have to pay a little extra, but I bet they would do it. Call them and ask. Years ago, I ordered an extension cable and got it. I of course had to pay for it, but it allowed me to remove the electronics housing and move it to a makeshift headset which I modified.
 
I called. The answer I got a few months back was "No." Don't know what the big deal would be to add another 12-14" of coil. Heck, I'd pay for any extra cost and order through a dealer. If anyone out there can help persuade them to build them special order I sure would appreciate it. Tesoro has done it several times for me as I still use some of their older machines. Thanks.
 
Garrett doesn't make coils every day. You have to get your dealer to order your coil. The wait can be over a month.
 
That's not a problem. I don't mind a wait. When I was told "no", I took it to mean they would never build a special order. I'll contact my dealer tomorrow and see what he can do for me. Thanks.
 
It's up to your dealer to follow through and get the special coil made. Don't let your dealer drop the ball.....

I called also and got the same response. I would rather chest mount the control box, told them so, they said they wont lengthen the coil cable though. I thought it would be no big deal but apparently it is. Tesoro offers their coils up either way, long or short cable, your right.
 
Checked with my dealer and also called Garrett. Once again I was told "NO" by the Folks at Garrett. They will not do it through a dealer or a distributor. Still don't know why but I guess it doesn't matter at this point.
 
It's been about 4 years for me so maybe they chainged their policy? Too bad because they could make some extra money.
