Why doesn't Garrett improve on the GTI 2500?

What gets me is why Garrett neglects to do anything with the Flagship GTI 2500? They first spend money on the ACE series...then make a Pinpointer(one of the best),AT series and then the ATX pulse unit. All the mean time doing nothing with the 2500. I wish Garrett would make a more deeper Discriminate depth GTI 3000! I really liked using the GTI series, but felt the depth in the Disc mode was severely lacking. About to 6" in my ground. The image sizing was out of this world! It was nice to know what size it was to dig. Garrett, are you listening?

I am waiting to see what they will introduce next, and at this point it seems that the GTI 2500 is the only machine in their lineup left to replace. I don't thing Garrett will be continuing with the GTI series though. More than likely they will be adding onto the AT Series. They need to produce something that can go up against the V3i and Etrac. Right now they have nothing that can effectively do that. Time is a wastin! It is time to replace it. I would imagine the sales of the GTI 2500 have been dropping for years now. HH

Feel the same way. Love to see another production run of the Freedom series......................still waiting on my Pros 4th trip back to Garrett.

Newer better.........not in my books!

If I had to choose a Garrett, it would be a GTI. I like the imaging but think it needs a facelift before I invest that kind of money in one.

I don't know Garrett scored a big win with the AT series in the midrange market especially with the waterproof feature. I would love to dream and think they could come out with a multi freq at pro or something like that that is waterproof to compete with the etrac/v3i/ctx series. That being said garrett is playing it smart catering to the bigger range of poeple with the at series so far. Yes and AT Pro 2 or whatever would be really nice though

I tend to agree. The GT series of detectors is getting long in the tooth by now.
Effective? Yes.
But I suspect well not see much more development down that line. I would think a marriage of the AT series is more likely.
Garrett has always been good at keeping mum, so we'll have to hold on.

It's probably best to chuck the old every ten years and buy into the new.
Unless, you're Les. He don't need to change a thing.

I really agree with Garrett is losing market in the $1000 range as well, really needs to do something for that area. They dominate the 2-600 dollar range as I see it. I see 1 of 2 scenarios happening this year (if it happens).

A: Garrett puts out a $1000-1500 dollar machine to compete with Minelab and White's.
B: Someone brings to market a new underwater machine to battle against the dominance the AT Pro has been doing all year.

If Garrett doesn't make the next move, they may be in trouble with competition faster than sooner. That is what I see at least.

Agreed. FTP had their sights in the middle range detector market and have said they should have a waterproof detector within 2 years. That was last year. They are poised to take it Garrett's dominance of the mid range away while holding a respectable piece of the $600+ range. Translation: the competition is there. They're just waiting for their next move.

As a long time Garrett fan, I can say FTP has really put out some top flight stuff.
The folks from Garland have their work cut out for them.

You read my mind Brad.:)

If they could make the Pro more effective on salt water beaches and water it would be a vast improvement. Also more coil choices and a backlight would be nice.

I'm new here. But I like the GTI2500 Been good to me. Lots good finds. How ever I would like to sell mine to get a better one just for gold ;)
