Why does Tesoro give up on so many detectors?

Mojave

So I've finally decided to buy a Tesoro Vaquero, but I just realized something that has me kind of worried... will the Vaquero even be around in a few years? I've been reviewing Tesoro's past lineups and it is amazing how quickly they abandon their detectors. I know they still honor the warranty, but why are they so quick to replace their lineup? The Conquistador, Bandido II, Eldorado, Diablo, Cutlass II, all gone and replaced.

Any thoughts?

I wouldnt worry about it. Even if they dont make the Bandito II uMax anymore, I own one, and it works good!!!! Take the leap!

Howdy Mojave, I don't feel that Tesoro abandons their detector models but I will always like to see at least small improvements. I wouldn't hesitate a bit about getting a Tesoro for they are very capable of doing what they were designed for. I know you won't regret it. I love the Golden uMax with the tones and it has good depth. Ok best regards and I hope we see you out there using a Tesoro. God Bless.

* Improvements
* Tesoro never abandons or obsoletes and will fix their very first Deep Search Series... no charge.
* The Silver Sabre Series: Silver Sabre, Silver Sabre Plus, Silver Sabre II and now the Silver Sabre UMax..... A Gradual Improvement in terms of weight and quietness of circuit. Tesoro did take the Pin Point Off the Silver Sabre which was a smooth passive auto tune assist which I prefer over the Tejon, Vaquero and Cibola.

That spans about 20 years... nothing like Minelab in their GP Series. In the last Four or so years; GP Extreme became the GP 3000. GP 3000 became the GP3500. Now the GPX 4000. The GP 3000 and 3500 had very minor changes.

Contrast this with Tesoro who has had the Cortes now approaching five years. I don't call that abandonment.

The NEWEST advancements from Tesoro were first the UMAX Platform and currently the High Output Technology (HOT) with Low Noise... that's progress; Tejon, Cibola and Vaquero.

I avoided their machines for years, I don't know why. Having started to use them, I really wonder why. Just talking to my local dealer the other day, and he feels that Tesoro is the most overlooked line of detectors out there. I have to agree.

As for abandoning, I am not sure about that view. It seems what they do is refine a line or model and rename it. This avoids any confusion with what you have in your hand. I spoke with the Gifford brothers the other day about something else and we went through how and why machines have changed. It seems that they truly listen to what customers want and then just quietly go about doing it.

That life time warranty, is great.

Does anyone have a Bandito II Umax that they would like to sell? :)
