Why does my 250 lie to me?

It will beep at the end of a swing,if i go above a 3 or 4 on the sens.It will tell me a coin and it a is a hunk of somethig else ! It will tell me a coin at 6 inches and i dig it,only to find it on top of the plug ! It will find a soda can at 10 inches deep and call it a quarter ? It will call pieces of road Macadum, under ground, a coin ? Chunks of brick, also ! Coal ashes !! Stay away from them, also ! All this on the coin setting ?
Some places,if i didn't fill my holes back in,would look like a praire dog colony !!
I am just venting and will keep digging .

A good indicator that your running too much sensitivity in a particular site is a beep at the end of each swing. Lower the sens to where that stops. Otherwise your 250 is working like it should. You should be able to determine a aluminum can by raising the coil above the ground 12 inches and swing. If it beeps it's a large target and move on.

lol He's just playing mean he WANTS to annoy you! Tell him to shut up and lower sens and he should do fine. I had similar problems with the GTI once.

It eventually gets much easier. You'll know when on the day you go home with pockets bulging with loot instead of trash. Good luck.

First of all keep your sensitivity at four bars and your coil off the ground. You're tipping your coil at the end of your swing which detunes the coil and makes it beep. No ID on any detecor made is 100% accurate. It only gives probability. Big objects give big, wide, signals. Try detunig over these. AS was mentioned, raise your coil up high on can-sized targets. Detecting is not a piece of cake, it takes lots of practice and figuring out what your detector is telling you. Detecting is 90% operator and 10% machine. The brains are on the end of the detector not in the control box.
