why does a zinc penny not disc out until max on a compadre with the 7 inch coil

hey big dog 47, a Bounty Hunter 505 i had would not disc one out either. its gone for a Silver Sabre Plus. now ya got me wondering if it will! gotta go try.

Mine is the same way.

and Mine has the 5.75 coil.

Not sure why its set up like that. I know its super sensitive tho and mine loves the clad and jewlery.

Here's my take on zinc's. I dig them just because I have found silver rings that fall in the zinc range. Also some gold rings do! I look at zinc pennies as 100 makes a $1. I also don't have to worry about next time I go back most will be gone. I then can find the fresh drops. Heck, I even dig pull tabs! When I go to a new area I can tell who ever was there before me was running high discrimination, because of all the nickles I dig ! Occasionally I'll dig gold rings:clapping:

Hi Bigdawg, I just went outside(man is it hot out there) for a quick check and with my Compadre 5.75 on Max it tunes out a 07 Mem. but still hits on a 67 Mem. and a 50 Wheatie. Also "quick" checked my Amigo II 7" and it was same as Compadre. Seems I remember a few years back that they changed up the mix on the Mem/zinc whatever and made them even cheaper/crudy, so there is no telling what the mix is now, as they are likely changing it from time to time. Sure helps now and then though to check our machines against what we are swinging over. It is always a good reminder to help us do what we do. HH, Charlie

I hate to dig zincs as so many turn out to be really corroded and cruddy. However, I've found several pieces of small jewelry that come in at the zinc setting so I usually check. BB

On my old style Compadre with the 7"coil, deep zincs disc. out before the nickel mark on the disc. dial. I use my Compadre only as an iron discrimnating detector, as I have never found anything better, either for relics or jewelery. My ground is mostly mild and the pre-set ground balance of my Compadre is set just about right and will detect pretty darn deep. My two zincs.

I always dug zincs, and after I found this on a zinc signal, I always will.
