Why do they make the extra day for leap year a February day? That makes one more day of winter. Why not make it like April 31st so we could have an ex

Our calender is 365 days in a year, but the actual solar year(how long for the earth to do 1 orbit around the sun) is 365 and a quarter(1/4) days, so every 4 th year 1 day is added to february (called a leap year). This change was made in the 1600s by the vatican (i believe) to prevent the months to lose sync with the seasons.(at that time it was to maintain a sync between crop planting time and the months).
