Why do the TID Numbers hang

I'm new to the E-trac world, and have been out learning what it can do.

I've noticed that when detecting a target that the TID numbers are sticky. I'm used to machines that update the TID #'s in real time with every swing, is there a setting I'm missing to invoke this behavior?

Thanks, and HH,
Brian

It's the nature of the beast Brian.-----They process a little faster than the earlier Explorers but both either the cursor or #'s are still slower coming up (changing) than on many other machines.-------Del

The E-Trac has to clear all metal response to update the TID. That is why you have to go primarily by the sound. A single coin, with nothing around it will respond just like you expect it should. Get multiple targets in a tight area and it will be slow to update the TID.

I've found that by raising the coil so the so the threshold returns that it'll update the TID, not ideal, but I guess it works (sometimes :)

Yes it has to do with nulling. The VDI won't update when the Threshold is nulled out, but it will sound off the tones of targets. So if I hear something good I will lift the coil up. Sometimes I have to lift and move it away from the larger items causing the nulling.

I have my iron mask screen wide open, when i get a signal that is slow to update the numbers, I switch to IM, this works great, the numbers will sw as fast as you swing and you
can see where the target settles down to, when you want to sw. back just hit IM again. works great on iffy signals.

You can set the Preferences Menu>Display Timeout On or Off. When the Display Timeout is On, the last detection result will be cleared from the screen after 5 seconds. The detection results are FE-CO numbers, Target Crosshair and Depth Gauge. When the Display Timeout is Off, the last detection result will remain until a new detection is made, or the Detection Screen is changed.

Hope this helps!
HH Rick
