Why DD coil???

Hi, I have only just got my x-terra 70.
went for a few hours on a farm that never has much the day it arrived.

First trip out on one of our club sites, and a silver hammered.

I used to used the sovereign, which although heavy, I liked very much.

Now coil options, am I right in saying the DDs have a wider search coverage, but don't go as deep as the center point of the standard???

Also what would be a better coil, and why. 10.5 round DD of 10x5 dd of same freq.

many thanks

There was a time when that might have been true but today I say the 10.5" DD coil you just spoke of will give you better depth and coverage. I say this with many hours of using it in the field.
I'm sure others have their own conclusions drawn about the concentric V the DD.
I will say that in most cases the DD handles mineralization better and runs quieter that the concentric.
Now just for fun let me say the same thing but different.
The concentric coil is a more sensitive coil than the DD and may require the sensitivity to be turned down a bit more to eliminate outside interference.

Use both coils to your hearts content every coil for the XT-70 is worth having.....minelab did well to introduce the 3 types of frequency coils......the more range of coils they have the more money they make etc etc. We could all go on about which coil is best for what but truth be had I'm sure once you have used both types of coil you will have your own opinion for them. Personally since I have put my DD coil on my machine it hasn't come off! I love it. Good luck mate!
Cheers!
