Why Couldn't it have been ME!!!!

I would like to relate a story a fellow told me a few years back, over in Silvania Ohio. He said that he and his buddy were hunting this old house that they had gotten permission to hunt, and he decided to check out the basement. He said it had a dirt floor....must have been really old! In one corner of the basement he got this "BIG" signal! It covered an area of about 2 or 3 feet! He said he figured it had to be JUNK....a signal that big! He didn't even attempt to dig it. As he exited the basement, his detecting buddy ask him if he found anything down there? He said,"Nope!....Just a bunch of junk over in one corner!" His friend went down to check it out for himself....he had a SMALLER loop on his detector!? HE didn't just see...ONE BIG SIGNAL! He saw a BUNCH of smaller ones close together!? He then pulled out this picture of an old wooden box....half potted away.....but! the box wasn't empty! There were STACKS.....not just 1 or 2!...But STACKS....of $20 Gold Pieces!!! UN-BEE-LEAVE-ABLE!!! The box had rotted and they got spread out! I forget how many he said there was? it was in the hundreds I'm sure! The box looked as if it had been 12-15 inches long by around 8 or 10 inches wide and about 5-6 inches tall. I would have been tickled with just ONE! I can't even imagine what it must have felt like to find a cache that big! I guess it pays to have more than one size loop? If something like this ever happened to me........My Luck......I'd probably be the guy that passed it up for junk and his buddy came behind him and found it!:goodnight:

As Mel Fisher said! "Today Is The Day" :)

in a location that had been passed over probably many times by others I'm sure. It was in an area frequented by many detectorists. I dug it and about 4 inches down was an old pistol. I diggem all in areas where oldies are found and in places possible to conceal caches. :)

I would have passed it by and Mike would have got them. But I'm sufre he would have given me 1/2
Right Mike?
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha

who was the Chairman of the Board of our club! I and many, many others had detected a certain park in St. Louis....my ex and I detected it after he did....so before we could find it or maybe leave it behind, Roy was detecting by an old statue and heard this loud sound and in digging it he found silver dollars...but don't remember how many? Can you imagine how many people passed it by! Another time my friend, Ginny, and I were detecting another old park and she detected near a water fountain and dug the loud sound there and it was one silver dollar.................and I'm sure many others had been over it or near it! Sooooooooooooooooooo, ya never know what those loud sounds are, so dig, dig, & dig some more! I was always too hot and tired to dig a lot, so my ex had told me if I found a nice cache I wouldn't have dug it and he was probably right!!

Anyway there's gold and silver out there (although probably scarce now) and good detecting and digging work will get it into the lucky detectorist's hands!

God Bless!
