CZ3D, or vise versa. If any of you guys or gals have done a comparison between the two, I sure would like to here from you. Already aware of, Multi-freq, Manual GB, and the Ltd Lifetime with Fisher.
Thanks!!

Hi Brock
I have not used either of the detectors that you asked about, but I have used the Fisher Coinstrike and I am now learning the Garrett GTI 2500. Both brands are good detectors and you could not go wrong with either one.
I have used all name brand detectors on the market and I have found keepers with all of them. Each one have their little quirks, and the important thing is to learn how to use which ever detector that you have.
One of the most humbling experiences that I ever had is when I was hunting at an old abandoned park one day, and I was using a new high end detector, when an old timer pulled up in an old truck. He got out of his truck and pulled out an old detector, I thought to myself poor old guy, can't afford a decent detector. This guy went to the areas that I just covered and was digging up coins, I thought to myself how can this be. My detector was alot more advanced and cost alot more, come to find out this guy had been using that detector for about 8 years and knew every little sound it made.
Everytime I use my new GTI 2500 I learn a little more about the machine and find more targets than I did the last time I used it. I do like the GTI's treasure imaging feature, I tested it on coins and soda cans and it really does work. The 2500 also has treasure talk and I have mine set up to prompt only when I hit the treasure talk button, if the top scale shows coin and the bottom scale shows a size D, then I know it is a soda can, but if the bottom scale shows a size B, then I know it is a coin. Good luck and happy hunting. TB

Go with the 1500. I have owned the 2500 (similar unit with sizing) and the Fisher 5A (similar analog meter as the 3D) and hands down love the Garrett. You may even consider the GTP1350. It is very similar to the 1500 but about $200 cheaper...

Hi,
the 1500 wins hands down,....how do I know.. .well I don't, cos I only have a 1500...I had a minelab explorer all singing and dancing but never found anything really good, and was digging nearly everything that made a sound! even though I had tried all the settings on the various forums for this machine.
Changed to the 1500 for the imaging and wow!! things happened straight away.
The 1500 pulls me coins and artifacts from 12" down with no problems at all..latest find a 1789 2 pence
plus 5 other coins around the 18 century found 2 day's ago
I'm lucky to have some fields from a local farmer. these fields are nothing special but alway's produce a coins and artifacts for me.
When I used the explorer, the find rate on the same feilds was nothing like the 1500..in fact I dug more rubbish then good finds!
With the 1500 I dig around 10 holes in 3 hours and 7 will pull good coins and artifacts, as the imaging makes all the difference in what to dig, the rest are usually some scrap brass.
Look If you want a superb detector for a reasonable price then go for the 1500, if you feel wealthy then the 2500, although there is not a lot of difference other than the talking and all metal mode.
Question to any one:
Why do so many people use the all metal mode or zero discrimination,?
surely the company built the discrim mode to be used,
We seem to buy the detectors for all the extra bits, then we are told by others to use the zero mode for better depth etc....rubbish Is what I say, as It has not proved itself to me.
Ive been detecting now for over 20 years and this has never proved to be the case.
I use 'coins' setting all the time with the 1500, I believe what Garett has told me, as they seem to know best about the detector THEY BUILT and it saves me lots of digs and time.
The only time I use a zero discrim is when I try a new field out.
I use a 'x' pattern on the field, corner to corner, If I get anything very old like roman, viking etc. then I might use the zero disrim, so I don't miss anything, but the rest of the time I alway's use 'coins'
I think Garrett, must have known what to set the dector to, cause it works, try it.
By the way I very really go above a 9 on the sensativity and still get the depth around 8-12" with no problems
Like mister Garett said
start with coins, turn down sensativity and you will get results.
Some people seem to turn everything up to maximum and
you are just defeating yourself.
Try it lower the sensativity to 9 and watch the results come in.
Just my opinion
all the best

Ps I have many reasons for lowering the sensativity, but the above is just one

an old GTA1000. It's all metal mode isn't true "All-Metal". I do use it's all-metal when I'm not around a lot of trash as you seem to be. I use my custom settings with the notch disrimination where there is trash such as a park. I do turn the sensitivity down when in trash or near metal playground equipment. I'm not trying to tell you how to hunt but just saying what I do. Maybe a newbie will try both ways and see what works for them. Congratulations on the finds.
HH

Try lowering the sensitivity to 6.5 and try it.
Bill

Hi Bill,
will try out 6.5 tomorrow.
Only have one week left on the fields I'm working as they will be sowing them.
Still can't grumble as had several coins today around 1800 and a Horse and carriage Door Handle!
In the uk this is like a stagecoach, Horse and carriages were used over here in the 1800's but what the heck a handle was doing from one in the middle of an english field at least 3/4 of a mile from the nearest path or road I don't know.
Had a look for any other bits but nothing else showed
Amazing what you will find in a field
all the best
Mike
