Why cant Minelab make a Pinpointer like the Sunray...

...Since ML owns the rights to the smart coils it has. Does SunRay have a patent on their particular type of pinpointer? If not I see no reason why it cant be added to the CTX or installed when brand new. I heard that Garrett is selling out of the Pro pointers due to the CTX buyers not having more options. This sounds like a win/win for Minelab although perhaps they need to hire more people to eliminate all the backorders.

I think that would be a great idea if they could do that, I am testing a CTX a friend lent me for a week or so and of course that is the exact time my Garrett Pro Pointer started acting up so it was sent back today for repair, not complaining mind you but could not be without a pin pointer so I bought a new Pro Pointer at least in the future I will have a backup..my wife got tired the other day when I would holler out..."Can I borrow your Pro Pointer" :nopity:

Jim - The one bad thing I could think of is that the balance would be thrown WAY OFF and then the detector would be like the E-Trac. I say that cause with my camera mount, which is fairly light, it does exactly that. So I just detach it quick with the clamp and reattach it quick for filming. I noticed the weight being off and removed my camera mount and walla, no problems with my back muscles.

Also, and more importantly, since the cable plug is in the slide away compartment, it doesn't seem physically possible to do what you are saying. (It is exposed on the E-trac which makes it easy).

Albert, I would still think its possible by adding two shafts and having the upper shaft have a re-entry slot for the cable. On my Etrac, I cut a hole in the shaft so the cable could be tucked away like it is w/o having the SunRay. I would also NOT expect the CTX to be waterproof after adding the new pinpointer. I would like to see a whole new shaft with the pinpointer already attached. Then when you are ready to hunt in the water, just remove the shaft and put back the original one. Even if it costs $500, I am sure most will pay for it.

Seems like a wireless option could be possible it could be on your belt just like a pro pointer I hope ML does something cause my pro pointer is on it's last leg and I need a new one

It would be nice if Minelab made a wireless pin pointer to be used on the CTX, they have it for the headphone module and would think they could make it for a Pin pointer to so it would not have to be connected to the CTX.

Wolf my pro pointer is toast after one month of use.

Yeah I was afraid of that many have had that problem this is my second replacement pro pointer. Going to give the pistol probe a shot and nurse this one as long as I can. I so hope :minelab: steps up cause I SO miss my X1
