--- duplicate the CZ3D in a F-series platform. Duplicate the electronics exactly, so it runs like a 1021 3D, give it an 8" concentric coil, and sell it. There's no R&D, and with the rising prices of early CZ3D's, they'd sell like hotcakes.
I have an old 3D and a new F75 SE, my 2 favorite machines ever for sure. The 4 tone setting on the 75 is the same as the 3D's, but they do everything a little different. I won't be letting either go soon, atleast until the new F80 or something comes out of course.
Thy are working on a multi freq machine as we speak.
The old CZs, as great as thy are don't run DD coils .
A new unit that could run DD and weatherproof would be sweet.
Unfortunately CZ's are old technology and wouldn't be surprised if one day they are no longer manufactured.The new Fisher is into new technology with a multitude of F like units in various price ranges and imagine its all about profit margins and may be cost inefficient to do so but seems like a good idea to me...
Yes, they do everything a little different. I want the ergonomics of the F75 and the non-audio fatiguing performance of the CZ3D. Just duplicate the performance and you can keep the DD coil.
I bought my brand new CZ3d in 2008. It was my first Fisher and now I have several. I have tried the CZ70 pro, the F70, F75 and the LTD. My camo F75 is gong to be at my side as long as I hunt. I will also always have a CZ. You have to love Bill and his video with his new CZ3d tearing up the hammered park. That is a pretty good salute to the quality and depth of today's CZs. I have gotten a little lazy swinging the lighter F75 but his video has me ready to get out with my CZ3d. I hope CZs are around for a long time in Fisher catalogs.
A CZ and F75 are great compliments to each other and having both will allow one to hunt almost any type of land and dry/wet sand as well as what type of hunting (coins, relic, jewelry) one wants to do.
I have an F75 Se on order (got a Gold Bug Se but think the F75 Se will be better) and will always have my CZ's in the stable.
Rumors of a new unit coming out still won't deter me from getting the F75 Se. If the new unit is a light weight, dual frequency unit that can get the depth and stability of a CZ in wet/salt sand with the recovery speed of the F75, and if its waterproof to 10 feet like the AT Pro, it will be a winner and I will get one.
Don't push too hard at first. You can tune things down a bunch and still find things. The boost mode will jump through tall grass and put you on the ground. I sweat it will pull you over a row when you are hunting in a field when it hits a target in the other row. It does have things to get used too. It makes noise, some say way too much. You just have to listen for the noise you know means treasure. I also have some EMI issues once in a while. Your CZ and God Bug are great backups if that happens. Let me know how you get along.
I've heard of some horror stories with the newer CZ3Ds. I don't know if it's a problem with inferior components, or a lack of QC, but just look at the resale value of these units. An older '1021' unit will command hundreds more $$$ in an Ebay auction. That says it all.
Newer "F" units suffer a much greater problem with EMI compared to older units.
People have a tendency to assume that the new CZs aren't as good. Mine, purchased in 2008 was fine. It air tested great and was quieter and more stable than my 1021. I would bet that all of this attention has made the new CZs even better. People who think they have to have a 1021 have driven the price up on used machines. I haven't seen one bring as much as a brand new CZ. Remember a new one has a five year warranty. The video on this forum showing the great performance of a CZ3d is a current release. I have seen people say that it is a 1021. I have had very few problems with my Fisher products and when I have had they have been taken care of quickly. All I am saying is don't assume a new CZ3d can't get the job done.
A CZ has over 20+ adjustments that must be made and you set each succeeding adjustment depending on how you set the one before. That's why many people avail themselves of another source than Fisher for CZ repairs, they get done right, THE FIRST TIME. It may be "older technology" with all the internal 'pots', but it is damn sure still one of the deepest detectors out, and in my hands on experience (empirical data, not opinion ) deeper than anything else made by Fisher. (Setting it up to hunt is the secret)
I wish someone made a rod system like the 1266x had that would accept my CZ5 control box. It would balance better and be less fatigue swinging with a big coil without hipmounting the unit.
learn to hip mount your cz-3d as fisher makes provision for that!
