Most of us know the Explorer will go deep and do a good job of IDing too, want proof?? stop by any of the people that are posting on these fourms with the good finds that they are getting.
Maybe your dealer hasnt showed you how to properly use the Explorer, maybe you are setting it up wrong with too much sensitivity or running in semi auto at 32 where you should be running manual at a lower sensitivity settings. Could be you have a bad Explorer, but if all your hunting buddies cant get more than 5 inches on a dime on a air test you all have to have something set wrong. I would recomend you find one of the guys close to you that is doing good and have him set your Explorer up like his is and see what you can do.
I am not a expert, but I know I have dug coins as deep as 14 inches (barber quarter with the X12) and the barber dime I got on Wendesday was 10 inches deep. I dug out a plug the lenght of my Lesche digger and use the X1 probe and couldnt get a signal untill I went 3 inches deeper, then got a weak signal deeper down in the center of the hole, so it wasnt one that fell of the side of the hole.
If you cant get more than 5 inches on a air test on a dime with the stock coil I wouldnt get a WOT untill I find out what is wrong.
Minelabs dont do well on air test, but in the ground is where it counts and they will do better in the ground than in the air.
