Why ar these two compadre’s different

New member
I’m in the market for a compadre and can’t find out why these two look different. Both are new and both have 8” coils. Can anybody help me out. Thanks

Where did you get the pic on the left?
Since the 8" coil model was released they all look like the one on the right with the brown donut coil...in this country.
Tesoro makes different versions for some of their models to sell overseas.

Tesoro makes different versions for some of their models to sell overseas.

They both came from eBay and both sold in the US.

On top of that, the one on the left is about 30 more bucks.

Left looks like a black compadre.
Like the black vaquero or black cibola but with the white donut.
I've also seen some overseas Mojaves with a white 7" precision coil.

Just a guess but that's what it looks like

Yep, cosmetically that’s the answer, but costing 30 dollars more than the standard $ 160.65 for a compadre was what got me wondering what’s up. Especially when it’s sold by a metal detector dealer. I suspect he just grabbed the wrong photo and has it priced to high. I will find out today, I sent a few questions to him yesterday.

I have no idea what is going in here.
If you go to that dealer's regular website he has that same 8" coil unit for the same price as the small coil...$160.
He must think some EBay shoppers are stupid and won't compare pricing.
If you are going to buy new try some of the sponsors here in the forum.
Same units, lowest prices, usually free shipping.

He can advertised at any price he wants as long as it is not below the Manufacturers Minimum Advertised Price. Some rip off artists wait till some one purchases at a much higher price and then they buy one on Amazon ad have it shipped to you.

Highly recommend you get the unit from one of the Forum Sponsors.

Yes , I realize people can sell there items at what they like. All I was asking is what’s the difference between the two.

Just spoke with Tesoro yesterday.
That version of the compadre is identical to the gold version with the brown coil, but intended only for sale overseas.
Personally, I'd love to have a black compadre with the white coil.
Sucks they aren't readily available here in the US. Much more attractive unit.

Thank you! I looked on a metal detector site in the UK today and saw that same version. Kind of strange to me that just the paint scheme would be altered to sell over seas. But that’s what they did.

Exactly.
Same as left picture on your original post starting the thread
