Why a Sand Shark?

I am going to Florida for two weeks in June and I want to dabble on the beach for at least a week or so relaxing and detecting. I narrowed my purchase of a PI machine down to a Sand Shark or a Garrett Sea Hunter. I know the Tesoro warranty is second to none but is that the only reaon I should go with the Sand Shark? I wanted to stay in this price range since it will be a casual machine for me.

I have had both and didn't care for the Sea Hunter, too heavy and false signals a lot, but the SS is great, have had it for five years with the 10" coil and many rings later still going strong, i believe it is the best for the buck.

love my shark - has a simple learning curve, easy to pinpoint with, & plenty of depth. may the pixies smile on you!

Sand Shark X 2. Great machine for the bucks.

You say you want a casual machine. I live in Ohio and detect salt water and wet salt sand only a few times per year when on vacation. With that said, I've been very happy with the Tiger Shark. It works in salt and since I am familiar with Tesoro's language, the learning curve wasn't so steep. As a bonus the Tiger picks up the small jewelry that pi machines miss.

i've used my sand shark for years in salt water for years & totally love it - also used it in fresh water a few times. i bought a used tiger shark a few years back but have yet to use it. i will try it next month in salt water to see how it does - i'll post my results when i do so.

I bought a Sand Shark about 4 years ago to use for salt water beaches, but since I only went down about once or twice a year, I did not want to invest a lot of money
in a detector that I would only use for a short amount of time each season.
I also use it for freshwater hunting around where I live and every season I have used it, with the value of the finds that I have made with it, it has paid for itself every year.
It is simple to operate and setup, pinpoints great, has great balance even for surf hunting, and a great deal in my opinion.
Some stated that they would be hesitant about using it in freshwater due to the amount of junk, but I don't mind this at all since gold falls into the same area as junk targets.
It performs flawlessly on saltwater beaches and is quiet until it gets over targets.
I would not hesitate to buy another one if something was to happen to this one.
The lifetime warranty is an added plus to this great machine.

In some fairly clean of trash areas, I hunt my Pi on dirt. It pays. I read guys using the Sand Shark like wise.

Get the 8" coil! Everyone will say 10.5 unless they've used both.
