Who's Giving Best Silver/Gold Prices These Days?

I know this comes up from time to time but was wondering who is giving the best prices these days. I'd also like to hear exactly how others arrive at what they feel they should get for say a pile of 14K rings with no stones. In other words, which sites are you checking for the current market price and what percentage do you allow for overhead to arrive at your final expected pay out price? Any formulas you use would also be great. I've got one process from a magazine but I'd rather hear what works for others. Maybe it's a better way. I'm done cashing in my silver or gold in the local stores as they are paying about 40 to 50% of what you'd get via mail order from some places.

Took a gold class ring that I just found to a place in a mall the other day. At first one lady said they could not take it as it wasn't passing the magnet test. It was on my key chain. I said its gold, but not stamped and the magnet is sticking to my keys...just please do an acid test. "we can't take it here...but if you want to leave it thats fine". I got aggravated and asked for her to acid test it again...when the other worker came over....this was their 3rd huddle. They turned around and the other worker said..."here its small but you can see it its stamped 10k".

Moral here. They are trying to take what hey can from people. I don't blame them...but that behavior may earn them a complaint. I didn't complain about it...but I am sure some one will. Anyway...sell your gold to some one reputable. Expect to get RIPPED off at "cash for gold" booths at malls and most pawn shops. HH -Joe

how much weight u got? i bet i can beat about all prices paid right now. i work for a company that buys gold, silver and antiques. we are direct with a refinery and have one of the largest collector bases in the country.

ARA Gold in Dallas,Tx. is the best I have found. I have shipped several shipments and they always have the exact weight that I send. They will pay 98% of spot on karat gold. Do your due diligence and weigh your gold, then figure the karat weight, (10k is .417 &14k is .585 etc).. This is easy simple and easy to keep track of what you ship and what you should expect to get paid for. I used Kitco for years and they are honest, but they pay a buck or two per gram less than ARA. Good Luck...

ARAGOLD. Just Google Gold prices for up to the minute quotes on silver and gold. If you dont have a scale you can buy a small digital scale for under $10.00 on EBAY, Weigh Your gold, Multiply Times .585. Multiply the answear times.98. That is what aragold will pay you. Silver same deal with silver but .925 and.90

I have sold some gold to several different places. But I found a jeweler that I trust, and he has been buying and selling gold for years. He said that if I wanted to sell any of my gold to bring it to him and he would let the lady buy it that buys his. He said that he gets 92% of spot. I haven't found any one else that gives that. So my advise is to get in good with a local jeweler.

Dude,

ARAGOLD gives 98% spot price and will even hold your gold until you tell them to sell. That means, say when the received your gold and it was 1,178.00 a troy ounce and you wanted to wait until the market hit $1,250.00 a troy ounce, they'll do it. They will even go so far as to advance you up to 80% of your money. I don't know anyone else that will do this. THEY are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jmho!!!!!

Use this scale to figure out how much your stuff is worth........http://dendritics.com/scales/metal-calc.asp

Then, if you know what is good for you, use ARAgold.....http://www.aragold.com/refining-schedule.html

I have used another popular company and the results just got worse and worse. I've gotten ripped for the last time.

Thanks for the info. I've got a good digital scale that will do grams but not penny weights or troy ounces, but I know the formula to convert the grams if needed. Right now I'm looking at cashing in some silver odds and ends but a friend is looking to do some gold rings, so we both thank you guys for the info.

OBTW, just an fyi I emailed Nicki at ARA and they use dwts. I would recommend anyone using them weigh your pieces in dwts., just so you know what is what, savvy?
