After all the hours i have put in with a couple of Ace 250's, a couple Tesoro Compadre's, A Vaquero, a couple Fisher 1212's, a couple of Gold Bugs, and a few old blue box Whites including a 6000DI and a Whites Goldmaster, that my first GOLD ring would come with a Lowly Bounty Hunter. Found it at the park the other day with the Land Star. Coincidence? You bet. But it just goes to show that you don't have to have one of the fancy wancy, self esteem building, high dollar detectors to have fun and still find good finds. So all you folks that might feel a little low because all you have, or maybe can afford, is a Bounty Hunter, Cheer up. You can have just as much fun, maybe even more, and still find the good stuff just like the ones with the $2000 Minelabs, Whites, and Teknetics. Ring is white gold completely surrounded by small diamonds. And i almost threw it away thinking it was just a Tarp grommet. So check that trash good, and have fun.

You nailed it Rebel 1, It don't matter which brand of detector you use, just get

out there and have FUN

Very good point you made you just proved a person don't have to have the high dollar units to find the keepers, just have to out there swinging a MD,congrats on the ring! HHH.

Or maybe you proved that poor discrimination can be better than good discrimination? I have no idea how you usually set up your machines, but as many machines as you have used and as many hours as you have put in, it seems odd that you never hit gold before. Just something that crossed my mind... Congrats on the beauty of a find either way!

P.S. - I bought a Titan 2000 (Bounty Hunter) for my father in law. I was showing him how to use it in his front yard and hit a nice 14K wedding band right off the bat.

It doesn't matter which machine i am using i normally set the disc. just a little above Iron. As for not hitting Gold with the others, fact of the matter is i had just not been lucky enough to get the coil over gold on them. But this just shows ANY of them will do it if you get out and hunt and get the coil over some gold.

Gotta get the coil over the gold ring first, and don't rely on meter readings, if you use a metered detector. Almost all of my gold rings have come from the foil to pulltab range.

Yep, you be right. This one rings up as a Pull tab. I dig almost all signals anyway. And especially all good repeatable signals.

You got me worried now. After all the bad-mouthing the depth on my Tracker IV, maybe I better use it a little more.

Very nice find! It just goes to show you that it's not so much the detector, as it is just GOING! :beers:

Yea, some of the other brands are just as good as the well known brands. Lots of people
have good luck with the Bounty Hunter...just a bit over priced a bit in my opinion. I have the Ace 250, $212.00 and
it has found a lot of good stuff. I've had it six years and it has paid for itself several times over. Now that said, if your
going to go prospecting you will need something better, something you can ground balance and handel the heavy
minterialized ground. If your not looking for gold nuggets then most any metal detector on the market will do, in
my opinion.

Well lets see now I have found Silver with X3,Cointrax II,Found Gold and Silver with X2,Fisher 1270. Just picked up the lowly BHTR will have to see how it does LOL

If your luck is similar to mine, you'll pick up a ring more often now that the ice is broken. I went for a long time without finding a ring, but after the first one I find one more often.
