Tried to do some detecting in Galveston this week. For the first time ever, my Whites XL Pro gave me fits. As many of you know, the entire island was drenched due to the recent heavy rains. From the beginning, I could not get it to ground balance properly. I've been told that Whites detectors will not work well in wet sand conditions. However, I was trying to detect a few miles in-land from the beach. I find it hard to believe that the salt content of the island soil is so high that I can not detect on it while it is wet. Is this a common problem with the older analog detectors or do the new models also have this issue?
