Who wades with their Xterra?

For some reason I can't stay away from the water!! Might be because it's hot in Texas! Anyway, I'm terrified I'm gonna drop my detector in the water while fumbling around with everything else! Does anybody else wade with theirs and what type of lanyard, etc. might you use to at least keep the detector from falling completely away from you? I have some jury rigged cords, but just wondering if there might be something better? I mainly keep to knee-deep or less water just because I don't want to get splashes or even potentially stumble in water that's too deep to hold the detector in the air on my way down!

When I have the money I'll get a water detector, but considering some of my finds in the water so far, that's also how I plan to PAY for said water detector! So for now it's just me and the Xterra..

I just use the arm cuff to keep it on my arm. And with my left hand I drag a shovel.

You might want to give Doc's Swingy Thingy a try. The bungee cord is attached to a strap over your shoulder and around your waist. It takes all the weight off the detector and will keep it from going into the drink. I will not use the 10.5 DD coil with out it.
Good luck and HH TomB

Thanks! I'll check that out! Now, back to the swim beach....
