Who uses both AT-Gold and AT-Pro?

I currently use the pro and am thinking of getting the gold to use on relics I will probably swap out coils between the two for a little extra depth on the gold detector. When using all metal on the gold does it still have tones? Also is there much of a learning curve going from the pro to the gold? Thanks

I have an AT Gold, never used an AT Pro. You can watch the videos on the Garrett website. The one on prospecting has some good info on All Metal. Yes, I like the All Metal and use it about 25% of the time. Is it worth it to buy one just for that? I don't know. My opinion I would not own both machines--if you have the AT Gold you really don't need the Pro. As for learning curve, it's not serious but there is some. If you are just using it for relics and dig everythng there is not much to learn except how to use a deep shovel. LOL

If you are using it in city parks to find deep coins amongst the trash, it takes some time. I suggest going to a tot lot sand or gravel and dig everything that makes a tone after checking it in iron audio. You can learn a lot in a few hours. I read a book on pulse induction machines by Clive Clynick and another one of his on the Sovereign that has a section on All Metal hunting. I learned a lot there.

I use the AT pro with the 9" x 12" most of the time for sports field hunting, water hunting, snow hill hunting, as I really love the sounds. It works great in my low mineralized soil. My AT Gold usually gets used in the woods, tall grass and edge of water where a lot od junk accumulates. I have been know to take both along, and stuff one in my Garrett back pack when not in use. the gold has the 5" x 8" coil on it most of the time. I have also used the AT Gold in water using the 8.5" coil x 11" double D in true all metal mode, when I really wanted to get maximum depth.

Thanks for the info Mike and John!! So when using all metal is it single tone, two tone, or multi tone?
