WHO MAKES THE TOP 3 WATER PI MACHINES?

Whites Dual Field
DetectorPro HH PI
Tesoro Sand Shark
Garrett Infinium

Whites because it is a Whites. Great Service. Good to like 250 ft deep. Very nice detector

HH PI can switch between two coils. Just as powerful as Dual Field with larger coil. Good only to 6 ft. But I don't even like getting my head wet. Very light. The controls are in the headphones.

Tesoro equals lifetime warranty

Garrett Infinium is probably the most versatile. You can switch between a number of coils. It is a gold hunter as well. Waterproof too! I'm not quite sure of the depth. I think there is a learning curve with this one. And it cost a little more.

I thought the question was PI detectors. Did they change the CZ-21 from VLF to PI?
White's PI Pro
White's Dual Field
Tesoro Sand Shark

1. Pulsepower Developments AquaStar 2 (High Powered PI).

2. Pulsepower Developments AquaSearch V2 (Low(er) Powered PI).

3. Anchor Electronics Barracuda.

(I assume you mean Sand/Surf and not diving). None of these are currently in Production. All are rare. The Aquastar 2 has a couple of inches advantage over lower powered machines (It is a waterproofed Deepstar). #2 & #3 may be more of a tie, I don't know because I have only used the Pulsepower units.

If the mythical Surfdevil is ever released, it may be in this list as I believe it is based on the Pulsepowers plus some form of discrimination. If I was forced to buy one of the current production water pi's, I hate to think of what I might do. jk

I read you can make your own on the
pulse forum.
Seems like I saw a link to make a baracuda.
Thank for everyones input. I have untill Feb to make my mind up.

land versions of Discriminating PI's..thought about water proofing them...still don't have enough time in on either to determine how well they do work at the beach........

Has any one given thought to using a GPX 4800 on the beach? I have a chance To buy a new one at cost I was thinking relic hunting and beach hunting. I really haven't seen any articles on using one on the beach.

I don't think the coils are waterproof...and the amount of small trash may drive you crazy...but they are deep, and I would guess only good for use on a few, very rare, beach's

Crenman, I have tried a gpx-4000 on the beach, which is very similar. The problem is, it picks up way too many micro-conductors. On cleaner beaches you will be stopping every couple of feet to dig up a piece of junk the size of a match head from 2 feet deep. You could get water proof coils for them (Coiltek: 8x11.5" Platypus mono and dd, 24x12" UFO, 17x10" Mini-UFO, 19" round Dingo DD, or the newer nugget finders which can stand a dunk of a foot or 2). Still, way too much work, and with the seperate battery it weighs a ton.

Better Solution, a high powered Eric Foster Pulsepower PI, such as a Deepstar 2 or 3, or an Aquastar 2. These will go deep on gold rings, but not be too sensative to the micro conductors (but still get small gold). Good luck finding one though. The lower powered units such as the Aquasearch go almost as deep. You see, the Eric Foster machines are HOT on Gold, that is, they will find low conductors deeper than other metals, so while you will dig up small junk, you will dig up gold deeper.

Oldbeechnut, I do not have experience with those units. The goldscan (is that the first one from the 80's ?) at least should do well with larger rings. The pulse delay is high though, and a lower delay would find smaller rings. Perhaps there is a PI expert who could mod it for you.

Thanks to everyone for there input.
I hit the beach for a few hours wile in corpus this week.
I decided to hunt in all metal just to see what it was like and I dug more rusty trash than I will ever do again I hunted the first hour in am and didn't check in disc and that's all it took for me. My hats of to all you junk digging pi users. I will hang tight with my excall and continue to hunt in am and check with disc. Besides if its deeper than am will hit than I will leave it to the Chinamen. I pulled a small silver ring at a easy 12" in all metal.

Thanks again for all the input!
