Who hunts this way??

I went to a spot today that I've hammered with a few other detectors that were about twice the price of the AT PRO. I was hunting pro mode coins with the iron audio on, this place is full of nails and with the settings I was using I picked out several wheaties. I was amazed that I had missed these before, they averaged 4-8" deep but all of them had nails with them in the hole! I believe this is one awesome iron and coin machine! I can't wait to get it in the woods for some Civil War relic hunting!! Good Luck on your next outing!!

Properly adjusted the atp is a killer in nails, especially if they're similar size. Pro 0 mode, adjust iron disc so the average nail is almost rejected, but still makes a broken sound( usually 22 to 27 iron disc setting). It will unmask a lot of non ferrous objects other machines can't see. No need to max out sensitivity, 1 or 2 off of max to avoid so called headlights in the fog events--still gets first rate depth.

The Pro Series detectors have excellent capabilities for pulling out good targets among very trashy areas. Thanks for the post. :)

Does iron audio being on affect the depth capabilities of the ATP I like listening to it to pick out the goodies?

Here's my understanding. Since it's a digital machine, when one disc out a segment it doesn't try to block that segment, it only turns the audio off (this contributes to a rapid target response) the object still appears on the screen. Turning iron audio on may help with deep signals that are at edge of detection, but i am not shure of this, But am shure its very unlikely to decrease depth.

Good the iron audio being on kinda fits my style of hunting I like listening to everything and pick out the non ferrous stuff out of the iron some areas I'm hunting is full of it!! Where abouts on the id numbers do indian head pennies and V& buffalo nickels fall in at? I have dug a few with my other detectors but being new to this ATP I'm not sure also how bout silver dimes? Also should I run in pro mode zero when coin hunting or is pro mode coins just as effective & don't compromise any depth?

From the land of th eBluenose.....mister man she does get good depth. Have rehunted spots that I have done with me old Freedom 3 Plus and have been successful. Gut to luv dat machine. Best ofthe season to you and the family.

Thanks Leslie I believe it's definetly a keeper especially for iron and trashy sites!!

Thanks for the info on the injuns trachunter!!

Thanks for this post! I'm reading up on the ATP while waiting for mine to arrive and this info about iron audio is going to be useful.

It's not recommended to run in Iron Audio in very trashy areas because it creates a lot of tones. However, if you like it, that is the best way for you. And I suspect a person could get accustomed to it as you have. Personally I think you will miss some targets but that's just my two cents.

Some where there is a post about the ID numbers. "Numbers to learn by"
