Who has the best service?

Been reading thru the forums for info on the reputations of post-purchase service of the major MD brands. So far I hear great things about Tesoro and White's. Very negative comments on Bounty Hunter and Fisher (same company, I know).

How is the Minelab USA service reputation? Read some recent posts here saying that Xterra owners were not happy with turn around time and quality of service. Are these more the exceptions than the rule? Any trends? One person mentioned the Las Vegas office being understaffed. Is this true?

I have owned 8 Minelab detectors, four Pulse Induction and 4 vlf...the x-70 being the current model owned. I have just sent my 3500 in for a repair...had to return it for different problems and still all was done and fixed to my satisfaction in under a months time...I am very happy with service from Minelab in Las Vegas Nevada.

as indicated by your just becoming a member in the past week, you should take note that there have been over 21,000 posts to the X-Terra forum. That is quite an accomplishment considering the X-Terra lineup has only been available for 3 years. Of those 21,000 posts, I'd almost bet you could count the number of folks "not happy" with Minelab service, on your fingers. If you were to have read those posts concerning the recent questions about Minelab service, and the responses, you would have learned that a vacancy in the technical support team was recently filled, making it "full staff" once again.

So to answer your questions..... Minelab USA's service is TOP NOTCH! I'd put Minelab and Whites both at the top of the list for manufacturer support.

The recent lag in repair turnaround is an exception to the rule.

And as I stated earlier, the vacancy in the repair staff has been filled. JMHO HH Randy

I had my Xterra-70 repaired in the late summer, in time they satisfied my repair needs, they have added a tech and all seems to be well with Minelab in Nevada now. There have been threads regarding this previously if you care to look back a few pages. I just hope we don't get quite as emotional on this subject this time.

I'll have to agree with Randy, Minelab does have top notch service. My X70 went down in late summer I called and talked with Dick Schultz and told him what was going on and he promptly sent me a new control box with a shipping label to send the broken one back! I'd say thats top shelf service!

Detector and company could just be all of them. What works for me in a detector might not work for you. What I like, and others like in features just might not be what you like, or others like. All major brand detectors are well built, have loyal followings, and work well. It also is personal taste with what you buy. If you like coin hunting then most detectors fit the bill.If you like gold detecting then a gold detector is in order. Same with relic..they all find iron but some do it better. Now lets look at Service.........All major brand companies take care of service issues...If they didn't they would not stay in business. What seems like an eternity to some people is a normal course of time for others. Haste does make waste...if a company looks your detector over in one day sends it back and they missed something..your unhappy..give em time for the proper check out and service...you will be much happier for it.Errors do also happen..but that doesn't make em bad..that makes human.

Now lets look at Brand names. Just read these forums..All brand name detectors work well for someone. I am amazed every time I read the forums and see all the fantastic finds with the different brands.. It really boils down to what you try, what you learn ( Big Difference in performance) and what you perceive to be the best Brand. If you use brand X of course it's the best..if you use brand A..it's the best too.Like I said about learning your detector. if you know it, and use it..you will be successful. So based on what I read, the finds people make, I will stick by my statement their all the Best..and All the companies have reasonable Service. But there is the old adage" You can't please everyone." and that's in all business transactions not just metal detectors. Don't forget the weight factors too. What I can use in comfort some people can not.Again just because I or someone else doesn't like the weight doesn't make it bad..it just makes it uncomfortable for a particular user..Not everyone See what I mean ??

Hope this didn't offend anyone..wasn't intended to do that..........Just my honest opinion of the different companies and products they make.
