Who else is using the new 6.5 version T2..and is your

Experience like mine. ?? I am finding it to be deeper , and much more stable than my original T2.

Just curious about your experiences. I know it's claimed no changes were made other than all metal start-up..but something is sure different with the 6.5 I have.

6.5 version T[sup]2[/sup] is just a really great detector. no detector is perfect and I rely on the T[sup]2[/sup] mainly for it's audio response and VDI info, not for the Icon TID. For Icon Target ID I enjoy my Omega much more, however they are both close, but not the same in performance, and I like each one for slightly different applications.

A fellow I spoke with who's hunted with the T[sup]2[/sup] in the past said my T[sup]2[/sup] seems a bit 'hotter' than the early version he had. So, I don't know personally, except to say my new unit is impressive. :)

In performance. That said I will stress F/T units have become my favorite detectors. I lucked out with this 6.5 version it came hot... I just wondered if others noticed if theirs was a hot machine too. I had several other units (standard T2's) and neither one was the same really. In fact one was almost weak in performance, while the third one was really exceptional in depth. I guess I am wondering if F/T changed something in the set up.With your vast knowledge Sir, "do you know what causes this difference"??. Is it possibly the plus and minus factor of parts installed ?. I was told there is a certain tolerance allowed by someone I know in electronics..and sometimes the match is near perfect. all +10 instead of say one +10 and then a -10 part in sequence. ???????????????????????????????

Honestly, I can understand that "brand bias" as I wouldn't have come over to Teknetics if I wasn't well inspired by personally experienced performance of the T2 and especially the Omega.

As I have stated, my 6.5 version T2 is a dandy! Not that the ones I've used before were terrible, it might just be that this time around I seem to have appreciated hands-on performance more than I used to. I do know my unit works great!

I guess we'd have to hear from Dave Johnson to qualify any performance enhancements with the new version.

I have "knowledge" of application and anticipated performance dynamics based upon coil size and type combined with the detector used and settings employed, but the only way to know the absolute differences between two similar models would be to evaluate them, side-by-side, with the exact same search coil(s) and a skilled design engineer do all the calculations and pull necessary data. This is especially true with all of the digital designs we have today compared with the very simple analog models of long, long ago.

I used to see a LOT of variation from one specific model to another back in the '80s and very early '90s from an Arizona-based manufacturer and I'd personally swap out my own model for the best one that came along (I was a dealer then), and I've seen other companies, such as one I worked for that's out-of-business here in NW Oregon that had a lot of unit-to-unit variables from time-to-time. I've seen them from the two largest manufacturers through the years so I am certain that there can be subtle little differences. Perhaps some of the requirements for today's high-tech designs leaves us at the point where it's almost uncontrollable, but from a top-quality manufacturer I don't think the variation would be that great.

So, is it possible that you maybe got a "cold" unit before and a "hot" unit now? Yes, it's possible, but I also think that revisions manufacturers make through the years can also clean up somethings and just provide us with a better end product. More likely that happened because my 6.5 version T2 is splendid! Besides, it would be difficult for an average detectorists to really know how their current model compares in performance unless they had owned a similar model before and hunted the same types of sites using similar settings. So far, I haven't spoken with anyone locally who has used the T2 or present as well as an earlier version who really complained much about the difference. A few have said they 'thought['i] their earlier versions was good but maybe not quite as good as their present model, but some also state that they have a better grasp of hope to get the best performance out of the T2 for their styles of hunting than earlier. maybe that's part of the difference? I sure don;'t know personally.

Again thank you.. I appreciate your answers.

I guess I'm making progress. No more neck brace, so than means I can get out detecting. The four broken ribs on the right are 'mending', so that means I can't get out as much as I'd like since I need to take it easy. I am mainly hoping to hear (get a call) from the ear surgeon this week (I hope tomorrow!) who will take a look at my right hear (the one that used to work best) and see if he can eliminate the constant drainage as well as do something to ease the pain, as well as get some hearing back as I am almost totally deaf in that ear.

Still, I managed to get out a bit Saturday & Sunday with some friends for a little local hunting, and I mean a "little" on my part, but I did nab a bit of sterling silver. But, I am mending and I know things will improve in time. Thanks for asking. I trust all is well with you and for all readers .... STAY OFF LADDERS!!

My cautious word of advise, especially if you usually get around with a cane in the first place.

The latest version was brought up in depth to that of the F75. I reported this when the 6.5 came out. The guy who set up fisher75.com (that covers the whole range of the newer First Texas machines) had found the same but not noted it on his site. I asked if he would do so and you will now see he that he has changed his view on the better detector of the two and has now swung towards the T2. He's a dealer and sells both.

Appreciate your response.and makes me feel better that I and others have noticed a pretty substantial difference in depth and performance.

and we "ALL" are so happy to hear that Your doing better. Hang in there..take it easy, give yourself the proper time for a full recovery........Thank you so much Sir for all the advise you give us about detecting and machines. And yes I am listening about the ladders... I cleaned my gutters last weekend and had someone holding the ladder..A first for me !! I thought of you, and your terrible fall. I thought it could happen to me, or someone else just as easily as it did to you..Have a speedy recovery Monte, and again, A true heart felt thank you for all you do for we forum members.
