About the size of a half dollar.
 
Looks like a United States seal type military button to me.
Does it have a loop on the back or any backmark?
 
from the size, my guess would be an us brass plated army cap insignia.
since being raised on an army bases back in the 50-60's, i remember seeing
many of this type of emblem used on the hard caps of us soldiers.

Looks like a hat emblem, but it would help to know what context it was found in. A farmer's field, somebody's back yard, an old homesite? Can you tell what its made of? Brass, lead, what?:thumbup:
