Whites XLT coils and Whites 5900 /Di Pro-sl coils

Quick question!

Are the XLT and the 5900/Di Pro-sl coils interchangeable? (both directions)

Thanks
Mark

you bet they are.

Hi there...considering that if you de-tune your 800 coil only the inner part will work, decreasing depth but at the same time being more successfull in separating the good from the bad,my question is:
why buy a 530 coil in the first place when you can reach the same result by de-tuning (push button) your regular 800 coil?! What do you think?

De-Tuning is simply de-sensitizing the detector/coil combo that can help when trying to pinpoint a target. It doesn't make "only the inner part work." The entire search coil is working, both the outer Transmit winding and inner Receive winding.

It will cause a loss of depth, and while it can help in some ways when hunting trashier sites, detuning a larger-size coil only marginally helps to separate good targets from bad. That's because the coil is still an 8" diameter.

The 5.3 BullsEye coil, a 6

Another way to slow down a 4 filter Whites like the XL-PRO is to use the awesome SAT MODE. This with the 5.3 Bullseye in trash is a secret weapon with the XL-PRO/6000 as you can go slow and the SAT MODE has the awesome modulated audio where you can tell the deeper hits from shallow by the softer sounding tone. The GEB. DISC. does not have this so you have to stare at the meter in trashier areas. I see now why alot of XL-PRO/6000 experts swear by the 5.3 coil and SAT. MODE set up.

Thanks a lot for the savy information...another thing: I am looking at various ads of this particular metal detector, and I am a little bit confused....I see that one version in named "6000 Di pro sl",and has a bigger box, while there is another -I guess newer- version that has a smaller contro box and the logo "white's 6000 pro XL" marked on its side, with the "6000" written in big, capital numbers...on top of this there is the "5900 Di" model which does not seem to be inferior to the two above, this by reading its specifications....So I'm asking,in your opinion, which is the TOP machine of all the three above mentioned detectors?! Thanks...

fisheruser,

MY pick of the three machines that you mention, I would snag on to the 6000 Pro XL. It will be the newest of these discontinued White's models, it was dropped in 2005.

Like you said, it has a smaller aluminum control box similar to the conrol boxes on their newest models like the MXT Pro. It is not a slow sweep detector, but with the 5.3 coil

It can be swept a little slower with a higher Signal Balance setting, not at a two filter detector speed like a Tesoro or White's Classic.
