I was on the fence between a Whites TRX and a Pistol Probe. Bought the TRX but have not received it yet. I wish I had found this Video it might have helped my decision. http://www.bigboyshobbies.net/whites-trx-pin-pointer
When the TRX was launched in the UK it did look like it was going to be a very good pointer, but sales have been far from stellar infact not good at all,2 of the things that folks commented about was the price it is much higher than say other standard pointers, and also as mentioned in the video the way the signal drops off half way down the probe that in my mind is a design fault.
So the folks that did go ahead and bought one have since parted with them pretty quickly, its a shame as the TRX does have some nice features but also it does have some bad features as well,i have used one as i wanted to see what it was like, but the problems that i and other have highlighted ment that i did not part with my money.
But saying that i do own a use a Bullseye probe and i used it as my main probe for a few years it was a real high quality built probe but its used as a backup as i love the PPointer audio increase the nearer the target rather than the Bullseye either the sound was on or off.
This is just my personal opinion though, but must admit a few of the new eastern european probes are taking alot of massive sales of late due to the extra features and also the very competitive price they are selling at.
Myself I really do not like being able to detect on the side. It is harder to find a coin in loose dirt. I sure would have liked to try them first. I bought a TRX but still would like to try a Pistol Probe. Watching the film it looks like the TRX does have a gradiant response the same as a ProPointer. My Propointer has been good no real complaints except that it is hard to rake through dirt and find a coin. I prefer the tip. We will see soon.
I am totally deaf with some high tones. I couldn't use my Garrett without the vibrate mode. That being said, how would I adjust the TRX to different modes if I can't hear them??

I feel for you. I have had an ear problem myself for the last month. Two trips to the Dr and still can not hear out of my left ear. I don't have my TRX yet so I can not answer your question. I don't think the pistol probe had a vibrate mode. Very few good videos on these Pin Pointers. They need to make videos that simply show someone retrieving a coin.
A word to the wise about the Pistol Probe...it is terribly weak in audio volume. It'll work if you are in a totally silent environment. With HPs covering your ears??? fugget-bout-it. The Pistol has no vibrate mode. It does give great depth though.
Thank you unfortunately I have heard the same thing about the audio with the TRX

The TRX lacks volume but it does have vibrate and enough audio to at least hear it with one ear cup off. The Pistol Probe fails, even in a 10mph breeze. Just sayin'.
I have the Propointer, pistol probe & TRX. My complaint with the pistol probe is the actuation of the button, it is small, stiff and difficult with gloves on. Keeping it on full time is a waste of 9volt batteries. The shape is too much like a pistol so I run blaze orange duct tape on it. Being a PI there is cross talk with whatever detector I'm using. I really like the TRX, it has quirks but nothing that is a show stopper. I just got to be careful that I hold the button long enough to shut it down because a momentary press changes the sensitivity level...
The Propointer is a no brainer. Especially for those who don't want to cycle through settings and sens setting like the TRX. The TRX with its added depth an sensitivity at the tip is geat for verifying shallow targets exact spot befor I cut a plug or pry up the target. I'm keeping both the TRX & Propointer...may also buy the new waterproof Propointer. For now with the speaker hole covered the Propointer is used in sloppy mud / watery conditions. The TRX can take that usage too but in the muck I just want to keep it simple with the Garrett. I always the TRX & Propointer when I head out. Never know when I will need a spare or loaner.
