Whites Surfmaster PI or Tesoro Sand shark?

I'm looking for a reliable beach detector that won't break the bank. I can either purchase a whites Surfmaster PI or Tesoro sand shark both for around 450. Which would be a better buy?

I've got a surfmaster PI. A couple of years ago either a seal went bad or I broke the clip that holds the batteries and guts of the machine together that make it waterproof. I sent it back to whites to see if they could fix it. It was already about five years old and about a week later a brand new unit came in the mail. The unit is a tank and I'm sure it was my fault how it came to be disabled. Can't beat that.

I've owned both and would for sure buy the Whites Dual Field. It has better depth by quite a bit..The Sand Shark is a nice light dependable machine but just won't go near as deep as the Whites machine...I still have my Whites and take it on every beach hunt...

Have heard nothing but good things about the DF. Most PI people I know run the Whites DF of Garrett Infinium. Nothing against the Sand Shark just do not know anyone around here who has one.

I started water hunting with a Surf PI Dual Field, still have it and use it. Great Machine!!! Big 12" coil, Anderson shaft, belt mount unit....and no problem or complaints with the floating coil... at all!

Ok I have used both detectors , on the surf master the coil like to float but it does go deep, but the sand shark will find Quarters at 26" and gold ring at 18 too 24"and the sand shark has a LIFE TIME warranty , and the White's doesn't. Now if you really want to go deep, deep ,deep you buy an ATX by Garrett.

I am not sure of the Sand shark but the White's dual field goes deep. My brother borrows my unit a lot and he does well with it on the salt beach in rings and coins. :detecting:
