White's Surf PI Pro

I recently bought an use White's Surf PI Pro that had been taken out twice on a dry beach, and after a couple tries owner gave up on it. It was recently put up for sale and I purchased. The headphone bracket is broken, but the unit functions very nicely. It has absolutely know scratches or any other issues.
I know the unit is hardwired to the case. Can I modify and add a coupler and install a new set of headphones. What suggestions can anyone give me on this issue?

Hey Russ, I don't have the answer to your question but I'm sure someone around here does. You might also want to post your question on the PI tech forum and the Beach/Water forum if you don't get your answer here. Just a thought...

I would just send it to White's and just have them fix it........... I would think it would not cost all that much ......Give there customer service a call to get a quote

Those headphones are waterproof, of a type so you can use them hunting underwater. You might be able to wire in a set of regular headphones, but then your detector wouldn't be a "water" machine anymore, just a pulse land detector. Yes, I know most people don't actually hunt underwater, but when you get swooshed by a rogue wave hunting in waist-deep water, it's good to know your headphones - like the rest of your PI Pro - was made to be submerged and won't be damaged. My advice: send the machine in to Whites. They have a very well deserved reputation for service.
