Whites QXT pro's and con's....

Dan-Pa.

New member
Seems like this model never went over well although Greg from transbay and Thomas Hill swore by the unit...Any feedback from QXT users. Anyone know of a field test on the net as I can't find one....thanks, Dan

Dan-Pa; The QXT Pro, in my openion is one of the overlooked machines that deserve a better Rep than people give it. A quick look at features.. Auto Ground Tracking and Ground Balance works great..It has easy access Frequency Switch..Quick return to last adjustment. If you are adjusting Sens for instance..after making adjustment a pull of the trigger switch will put you back into Operating Mode. If you want to go back to Sens adjust simply push one of the Arrow Buttons and you will return to last adjustment..Much like the DFX and XLT...An awsome VCO Pinpoint(if you want it..or you can disable it)..One of the things I like best on the QXT is the Modulation the machine has. After awhile you can tell very close on your depth just by listening to the Tone..This machine is Simple to set up and run correctly..Go to Factory Preset Coin and Jewelry..Disable Noise Cancel.. Crank up Sens as much as you can and go hunting. The QXT even has a Two Tone High Low target ID much like the MXT..The Rolling Histograph, with the proper Sweep Speed will tell you coin size targets and also act as a confidence Bar to Target ID.(Three Bars up is usuall coin size) In pinpoint mode it gives you an accurate depth reading and a running bar accrost the LCD. The further right the bar goes the closer you are to the target. All in all, I think the QXT Pro is just as deep as the rest of the White's better machines. I have owned several but always seem to let someone talk me out of them. They are getting somewhat hard to find and seem to be holding out for a respectable price. Shopping around for a good $300 used QXT, you can certinally do much worse with your money.....The only down side I see to the QXT Pro is the lack of it's ability to store Memory. Leave the batteries out more than a couple minutes and you loose you settings. No big deal, it just is not that hard to set up.

True you are bout this unit/ I converted a QII to a QXT and love the unit. Agreeded one could do far worst than this white unit that has had a lot of bad press. I have been able to find dimes among nails and the unit is dead on in depth and ID! So be it that it is not used by a crowd of others this leaves more for the rest of us. These are great units , they need only a little attention to detail and away you go. Diggon!!

Sure appreciate the feedback...Had the chance to pick one up quite reasonable when one considers the price of top of the line units...Am very familiar with Whites units and come the Spring will let the board know my feelings as I have tried many units over the years...

heck!..dan!..we all thought you LIVED in los banos!

Good unit for Relic hunting. Great depth, with great ability for sizing targets. Never was to happy with its Ground Balance in this Va soil though, especially if you wanted to switch into the Mixed Mode feature. Achieving a consistent threshold in Mixed Mode was very tough in many area's, while disc mode only would work fine, sacrificing some depth. Thats all I got .

There's a few user comments at
http://metaldetectorreviews.net/detectors/11-1qxtpro.html

The reason why there's a mixture of good and bad comments I should think is down to ground conditions. I found the QXT was pretty deep in some areas, especially with noise reduction off, but not so good in other areas. The XLT and MXT's seem to cope better in a wider range of soil types.

I picked up a QXT Pro on Ebay for $ 350.00 dollars and I really like it, it to me is best described as a poor mans XLT. It has four preset programs that work fine and a number of the pro options on the more expensive machines, and the options on the QXT are the ones you really use. like VCO and SAT and sensitivity and dual mode and several others. I just think this is an excellent machine and I believe it totally gets a bad wrap. You don't get VDI and that is the only knock I have on this
machine if that is even a knock. I really enjoy using this detector, and you get very proficient at determining what is in the ground with the tools the machine offers. I can fine tune it with the pro options to fit just about any condition except salt water I would not recommend it for that, but i would not recommend an XLT for that either. It does annoy me somewhat that you can't find much out about these QXT Pros but I think you would not regret picking one up. I feel alot better about a QXT at three fifty verses a used DFX at seven fifty any day.

ive had 2 of them and prefer it to the XLT, sweet relic machine, am looking for another one, the 3 draw backs already mentioned, fine tunning the GB and no vid # scale, and 3 is the 8 notch segments, but i ran mine wide open, great machine

I picked one up about 3 weeks ago, still learning it. Great machine........950 seems a bit to much for park and playgrounds have to lower sensitivity to get smooth threshold. Have already found lots of coins. Does anyone know what the final program version is ? And looking for smaller coils.

Version 1.2 is the final version...There is a Blue Max 3.5 and a Blue Max 5.3 coil...there is also a 4x6 DD and a 3x6 DD...Jimmy Sierra makes a 6" coil that does not see signals off the top, so you can put it right under fences and such...

HH,

ANYONE GOT THE HOT SETUP FOR THE QXT PRO IN PARK'S, ON GRASS?.....AROUND OLD HOUSE'S, FOUNDATIONS?.....IN HEAVY TRASH, PROSPECTING SETTINGS? I NEED A STARTING POINT FROM NOVICE TO PROFESSIONAL WITH THIS MACHINE.....FROM START TO FINISH? FAVORITE ALL AROUND SETTINGS?.....THANKS, BIG RED 1

Here is some info I found on qxt a few years ago...Hope it helps Gave mine to our daughter.
