White's QXT PRO

Hi guys have any of you used the QXT PRO and what do you think of it? i have the MXT at present, love it and finding plenty with it including 2 gold Sovereigns. I have a chance at buying the QXT at a bargain price, just wondering if its worth it?
Thanks for any replies. Raoul

It's a really nice detector with a couple of fatal flaws. One of the worst is losing settings when the batteries are changed (unless you're really quick). Sometimes turns itself on. White's coulda turned it into a winner.. but threw the baby out with the bathwater instead. ..Willy.

Keep your MXT....QXT was one of those units that never became popular and was discontinued, however some done quite well with it..Greg from Transbay had some good words to say about it and Thomas Hill wrote an article about it...Sending you some info...

Raoul; The QXT has a rather undeserved poor rep. Yes, it will not keep your program changes if it takes you over two minutes to change a Battery Pack. So, buy an extra and keep it loaded and POP it in when you need it. The QXT has a ground tracking system every bit as good as the Early Specrum XLT. Don't hear many folks knocking those machines. It has a tone ID somewhat like the MXT. It has a very effective target sizing feature. It has VCO Pinpointing(all the new fancy machines have it now) There are a zillion different coils available both on the new and used market. It has a noise reduction feature that when turned off and with the Sens. cranked up it will hunt right with the best of them. I don't put much stock in Air Tests, but I have Air Tested a Silver Dime at 10 inches and dug Wheaties at over 8 inches. It's a great Dry Sand Beach Machine and seems to sniff out Gold very well. All in all, if you can pick up a QXT Pro for $300 or less and learn to use it, you will have a very good all around machine. The final test....Put a Mint QXT Pro on EBay for $300 and see how long it will last. Not long I can bet and even less if I see it. poorman

qxt is a great machine, the battery thing is a mute point with me. pretty easy to set up, and run it wide open and set high tone to wanted zones, excellent relic machine and good in the trash, they do like the iron though. i had the Quantum XT for 2 yrs and sold it, bought my QXT Pro from poorman last spring, same machines. the only thing i wish they had was the numeric id. i get better depth than my dads new XLT which is a fast sweep unit, but you can swing the QXT pretty fast when running them wide open, i had spectrum last rear as well but liked the QXT better, just picked up more hits with it doing side by sides, the id was better and more stable on the spectrum though. like it was mentioned earlier QXT were released after the XLT excellent target sizing, audio harmonics, depth . These were #2 in Whites line at the time they came out, and I think whites just pushed the XLT line and didn't put to much into the QXT. mine is now up for sale on ebay, and saw a Quantum xt there as well. id expect to pay 300-350 for a nice used one. Good luck and thank you poorman for a nice machine and excellent service.
