Whites Prism II

Hi Everyone,

I have a whites prism II and suddenly have no sound. It happened a little while ago and I thought perhaps the batteries were low so I changed them and it seemed to work. I used the machine once since then and went to use it today and again no sound.

I plugged in my headphones to see if perhaps it was the speaker but nothing.

Anyone have any ideas? The machine is just over a year old now.

Thanks

One of the batteries works the audio the other the brains. Switch the batteries around? Maybe the audio battery springs are compressed? Just check out the battery stuff real close.

I was at Whites website and notice they don't list the Prizm II. Have they stopped making the little beast?

Not sure if they stopped making them, but I called the guy I bought it from today.....on a sunday....and he said to bring it by. He of course turned it on and it worked great. I went outside with it and it worked. I pinpointed with it and it worked. Then it stopped making noise again.

I told him I am glad that it did that because I tried everything he told me to do over the phone as well and it didn't work and I'm not crazy.

He gave me a new detector because it was less than a year old. He said he has never heard of a whites machine doing that but he would send it in to see what the problem was.

It was a big surprise that he would give me a new one. Excellent service!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like White's is getting rid of the whole lineup....Personally, if folks do their homework, you can get a much better machine in the M6 for a bit more dough....Wonder if they will come out with a new lineup to replace the Prizm???

They just came out with a new spider coil for the Prizms. So I don't think the Prizms are on the way out. Yet?

I am using a Prism IV this fall for old house sites. I had my audio quite once. I found the coil connector had to be really seated well and connected with the small tightening screw very tight.
The coil connector is in a very awkward spot so I used a small set of pliers to give the connector a good turn. Very gently of course. and no problems since
