Whites PI Pro versus Tiger Shark

William, I had a PI detector years ago. They love iron, you will be digging 18" deep holes in the wet sand for every little piece of iron to no end. I now have a VLF Fisher CZ20, much better, can discriminate out iron, and there is lots of it on the beach. The Tiger Shark might be very similar to the CZ20. The rings lost during the past summer season won't be that deep any way. Hope this helps. Jabbo

William,

The real question is do you want PI or a VLF machine, or a PI Pro vs a Sand Shark (PI) then you are talking apples to apples. The Tiger Shark is good on gold and small items like stud earing's, it also discriminates the Iron very well. This comes in handy in really trashy ares. I recently was using my Infinium (PI) and my brother my Tiger Shark. We working a area full of trash, my PI drove me nuts, meanwhile the tiger shark was getting good targets. I own multiple machines because some work better than others dependant on where you go hunting. So do you want discrimination or not that is the question?

Good Luck

I did want a PI machine but after 3 days and with out exaggeration at least a hundred sand holes and picking up microscopic bits of rust I'm wondering if this is the way to go. I like the ides of the Tiger Shark but the reviews abt. this machine are mixed as whether it preforms well in salt water ???????????. Whats a detector to do ???????? Have a Whites PI, and an Excalibur which I'm not crazy abt.

william,

The Tiger Shark has not been tested by myself on the beach, but I had read bad things about my Infinium, all of these things were false. People did not take the time to learn the unit. I have talked to a few users, one of the things that happens with the Tiger Shark is that the sensitivity get adjusted for freshwater or land and because the adjustment is internal (the only drawback) users don't take the time to adjust for salt water conditions. I have no doubt the Tiger Shark will work fine for me when I hit the surf someday.

Good Luck with your PI.

Black Davy is right. I run the sensitivity at max on my Tiger Shark when working in fresh water. When on the salt water beachs you have to use the Salt position on the Mode switch and back off on the sensitivity a little bit. If it is adjusted correctly it runs very smooth with very few false signals.

I tend to run all my detectors on the ragged edge of having my sensitivity too high. I don't mind an occasional false signal. That way I know that I am running with the sensitivity where I can get maximun depth.

The Tiger Shark is a very good machine. It will find smaller gold targets than you can keep in your sand scoop.

God Bless,
