Whites or minelab

I own an M6 and it seems like a great detector but I really want something that goes deep, My first detector was a sovereign elite, and it seemed to go down to china but I was still inexperienced at the hobby. I at times miss that elite and consider the newer gt version. My question is will the m6 get down there like a sovereign? and is the m6 basically a simpler version of the mxt? I detect any time I possibly can and consider myself an experienced detectorist so I want a detector that will go deep, I do not want anything like an explorer or DFX with to many options, I want something simple. So please give an honest opinion of the m6.

Hi I bought a M6 1 Month ago and I love it.every time I use it it gets better and better. We also have 2 other detectors But the M6 is by far the best I have used . It is easy to learn I put the 4 by 6 coil on it and love it .hope his helps Mike

M6 is the best detector I've used so far!! I have had many detectors from mid priced to top of the heap.. bh time ranger, goldbugII, garret1350, tesoro tejon, minelab xs and se, M6 and fisher F75(Jury still out on this one).. The M6 outshines them all!! You want deep on larger than a dimes get a super 12 and be prepared to dig deep!!

If you want deep then set the disc at 9 o'clock, sensitivity so far up you start getting some slight chatter. (Don't back the sens down!) You will be able to tell the good beeps from the slight chatter after a while. Hunt in the single tone mode. Tracking off. Wear headphones. Go to a good site that you have hunted out. Dig all of your good signals. But then dig any iffy, faint or one way signals that give you a TID of 50 or more. Even if it's just a tiny quick beep. I have found that these are deepies. Hunt like this for two hours. Check your pouch then decide if this kind of hunting is for you.

What khouse said except try to desc as little as possible even 0. I know this is hard to do because of the trash but it will get you a little more depth. M6 all the way. Littletwig

Littletwig,
I didn't want to blow his mind with zero disc! I think he will be digging some deep ones now.

It sounded like hew had some experience so I was just adding a little more info. Littletwig

I had a Minelab Sovergin XS2A Pro, and now have a M6, I do not think that I lost any depth by going with the M6 over the Minelab. I regulary pull dimes 7 plus inches with the M6 using the 6X10 DD coil.

Well then, I think that answers my question, Thanks for everones advice!

Stick with the Sovereign. You already miss your Elite. You won't miss the GT because you won't get rid of it.
