Whites MXT on the beach

Why is it that I hear people are using relic mode on the each instead of coin and jewelry? Is there an added benefit?

Well, since you are on the beach, its nice to just run wide open and dig all signals...I get alot of lighters and knives and whatnot in those iron tones, plus, with no discrim, you are getting some extra depth too. Its good to find bobbypins, cigarrette foil, and all, since it sort of tells you the layout of the beach and helps you discern the "lane" You WANT to be hitting those pulltabs and foil, it tells you nobody has swept this place in a while...and you WANT to be digging them for that is where the gold and plat hides..I never get tired of looking at this picture! My very first gold find on the beach up at the edge of the dunegrass and off to the side of the main area that was swept clean by everybody else...Good luck, beach hunting is tough!

MXT's run much more stable in relic mode. After a target is hit I switch to Coin for identification to decide whether to dig

Althought I am now an Excalibur addict, I found my best find on the beach with my 1st MXT

In my opionion relic mode works best on the MXT no matter where you are hunting. After I learned to use the relic mode and found out how much better it works than the c&j, I use it all the time. It just works better. It picks up little signals that you'd miss in coin mode.

Next time out, I'm going to give this a try. But the MXT is doing a great job on the dry sand! Always willing to learn more!

Thanks for an interesting thread! I love my MXT in the dry sand here! I have used Relic, but most often use C&J with the salt toggle engaged. I will also have to try the Relic more! So, do you dig all those low "thud" tones when in Relic? I realize it is not a big effort to "dig it all" in the sand!!

Relic mode is Like all Metal with Disc Whites Mixed Mode gos Deeper (all metal Mode) Mickfin

I use the mxt always in cj mode. The depth difference between the two is an on going discussion, but there is no difference. If target is out of id range the machine operates in all metalmode any way. Use salt toggle if ground is below around 4. In dry sand keep in ground or lock the tracking after ground balancing. I like to see the 25 cent etc. Come up on the screen while sweeping. You getmore info in cj at one time. I keep disc just below foil around 3-4. I use the super 12 or the 6x10 (my favorite). Wet sand with can be done but lower the power to coil. Mho

I'm a little slow getting in on this thread. I use my older MXT in relic with trigger forward. Makes it easier for me to decipher signals. Low for iron and high for everything else. Sort of like the TTF set up on the minelabs. I'll switch the trigger to center position to check targets and get a little more info. I generally run disc low no higher than iron-nails-etc. (2-3). I've recovered a few pieces of gold with this set up.

Monte over on the MXT forum has all kinds of good tips for the MXT on the beach. I especially liked his comments-tips regarding ground balancing.
