Whites MX5

Took out my new MX5 today before the rain, Whites hit a home run with the MX5. It has just enough adjustment's to fine tune the detector for your hunting area, the 9in coil has good depth and coverage. If you want a detector for coins and a trip to the beach the MX5 fits my needs, and the tone ID makes it a coin magnet. I enjoy my MXT Pro but the MX5 will stay right with it. In 2 hours I found 2.59 in clad and the VDI numbers and tones were right on.

For me it is the total package that I've been looking for for a long time. Some have the speed but not the tones, others had the tones but not the coil selection so on and so forth.

I like the 9" concentric coil... I bought one to use on my MXT Pro and V3i. Lighter in weight than the 950 Eclipse and open design better on the shoreline.

Owned all three from time to time. The MX5 has some features the M6 & MXT do not have. Back light, more tone options, adjustable notch, lighter, and cheaper price tag. I also did not feel the M6 or MXT was any deeper on coins with the same coil. Three things the M6,MXT has that I liked better was rear headphone jack, pinpoint trigger and ability to lock the ground balance. The MX5 also had the ability to put the detector in a standby mode while digging which was nice. One other comment I found the screen on the MX5 to be alittle smaller but was still readable for me. For stock coils I liked the MX5 9in. spider better than the 9.5 donut also. All three were excellent detectors just have a few different features. If you are a coin & jewelry hunter only I would not spend the extra for a MXT,MXT Pro but would go with a MX5 or M6.
