seems like white is going through a bad problem. they cant make there
own search coils, hear tales of many kinds; but it makes you wonder if they are going out
ten digger

They have been making their own coils for a lot of years, I think they know how to do it.

Funny back in the day, Ford used to make all the parts for it's car... When was the last time you saw a Ford Tire.. We know they don't make the Airbags... ;-)

I must have missed something? White's have been making great coils for years now?

Well whites has been making coils for years, but just not the best.. As whites will now tell you to get best results from their machines you must use aftermarket coils... Most of us already knew that..

As whites will now tell you to get best results from their machines you must use aftermarket coils...

HUH? Care to share that source!

That is one of the most absurd statements I've ever read.

Well its true.. Whites is gonna be giving away a 13" ultimate coil with the V series machines and for a small price increase will offer that coil with other machines... They said ..to get the most out of your whites detector we will now offer the 13" ultimate coil with our detectors... So before you call me a liar with your statement "absurd". Just look it up, i did.. If it offends you then yell at whites not me lmao

I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I know that 2014 wasn't a great year for White's, and with the loss or change-over of the lead Engineer Manager and their CEO, and who knows how many others aren't there, I think they are trying to get their marketing and promotion ideas under better control and at least alerting Dealers in advance, as they should. But they are, in my opinion, making some mistakes.

Also will be able to purchase the 13" Ultimate coil as an accessory. Do not have any prices yet.
The prices were in your e-mail.

Will there be other Detech coils available for Whites users from White's?
I certainly hope NOT, and I feel that promoting an aftermarket search coil for their own upper-end models was almost a slap in their own face, suggesting that they can't build a quality Double-D coil to compete. That, I feel, was a mistake.

Have not heard anything but it would be nice if they would add other size Detech coils.
I whole heartedly disagree. Any detector manufacturer who has the financial ability to have a quality, skilled R&D engineering team to develop ANY detector for their line-up, should easily have the skills to make the best search coils to match the field performance achievable by their own metal detector. Go figure that if a detector maker produces a product and claims it is expressly engineered for a variety of metal detecting applications and is a superior design to provide top-end performance, they can't really hint to that ability unless they had the detector design coupled with search coils so that such claims would be achievable.

If anything, instead of selling their detectors AND coils from an aftermarket coil maker and infer the other guys have a better coil design, then they ought to just offer their MXT All-Pro or VX3 or V3i without a search coil at all (which would be a more attractive price and get more sales generated) because many active hobbyists would probably be more interested in these higher-priced models and would already have one or more search coils that work on theses models, or they could just buy the White's coil that they would prefer from the Dealer (I'd take the 9" spider and 6½" Concentric coils myself), or buy an aftermarket search coil of choice.

Looks like the New Whites Detectors at least are not coming out this Spring.
I guess not and that means they are falling (farther) behind the competitors. We saw some changes in the industry as a whole a number of years ago and, while the FBS units from Minelab might hold some interests, most of the real competition with modern digital design technology has been toward the lower to moderate-price range detectors.

To ME, the top all-purpose performer from White's is their MXT Pro, but it is time for them to step it up as Fisher, Garrett, Makro, Nokta and Teknetics all have competitive models in the $599 to $899 price range. White's needs some new detector design offerings AND their own, in-house search coils, not aftermarket offerings.

Just my views, now hat you opened the door with what they are planning to do for Spring..

I think their statement is entirely correct without belittling their ability to make good coils. Anytime you can upgrade from a quality10" to a 13" DD coil, you will get better performance. It doesn't matter if Detech is making it or White's, the Ultimate is a proven quality coil and White's users should be happy to have an inexpensive or free access to that coil. Way to go White's

Offering my opinion for what it's worth. I owned a VX3 and a V3I and both sucked on depth and I.D. in my opinion. That said,, maybe Whites does have problems making quality coils for their machines???? I bought an SEF for the V series cause the whites machines with original coils sucked in my opinion and i truly believe the SEF was better,,, " how much better"????... Sorry, But for the die hard whites folks, it is what it is,, and with the change over in engineering and management maybe whites is having some problems? Is that too far fetched to think they might have problems?....Just my opinion and i am not a die hard any company....

Whites is a very good company to say the least .....but.....do they make everything better than everyone else??? No one company makes everything......"perfectly". Whites make excellent quality equipment and the best customer service of any business....however....Im not sure of their direction for the future. Are they going to do what they do and pursue more advanced machines.....or.....be more of the "major" market that is in every chain store out there? Perhaps the new Ceo will change the way the company does business......we will see.

If you truly do believe they have any kind of real troubles... "There Is A Bridge in Brooklyn I Can Sell You... Cheap"!

All Companies,, Every company ever formed has had troubles... If you don't believe that then how did you come to own that Bridge... lol... AND by the way NO i don't want to buy your bridge, No telling what sucker you got it from??? lol..

Seems like every detector manufacturer goes through these kinds of posts at least twice a year. Tesoro goes through this on a weekly basis. People starting BS saying their Engineers quit and everything is going down hill and they are selling their business to Capital One or whatever....I have to admit I enjoy reading trailer park trash

to get the most out of your whites detector we will now offer the 13" ultimate coil with our detectors...

And out of that simple statement you derived the idea White''s doesn't make good coils? I'm not going to even bother to point out just how ridiculous that is I'll let everyone else make their own judgment calls. All I can say is LOL

I'll also bet White's keeps right on making those junky coils of theirs and sells the crap out of them.

By the way, I use a Ultimate 13" on my Minelab E-Trac when conditions demand the need. That doesn't mean Minelab makes bad coils by any means. Does it out perform the stock 11" coil? In the right conditions, yes. I guess you would say that means to get the best out of the Minelab you need to but a non-Minelab coil. It only means that the 13", under the right conditions, would be best for their Minelab detector. Doesn't mean they make bad coils.

The 4x6 shooter would smoke the 13" in a trashy site. So the White's could also say to get the best out of our detectors we offer the 4x6 shooter and it would be true.
