Whites m6

Has anyone used this detector, how is it on gold jewelry, and how is the depth, I have enought for the MXT but from what I read there is really no big deference in the two

The m6 is a simplified version of the mxt.I have owned both and performance wise there is little difference. It is a brilliant detector and worthy of a place in anyones detecting armoury. In fact,i would say it is probably the best combination of simplicity and performance on the market today.

What would be a good coil for it?

The M6 is a very good all around detector I had one for a long time then sold it missed it so much I bought another one back . I have dug Indian head pennies at 7 to 8 inches with no problems . As with any detector when you get that deep the VDI gets off some and gets jumpy most detectors have that problem , but its no problem once you know what your looking for . The M6 is a great detector just doesn't have all the different programs the MXT has. I did have a MXT for a couple years but went down to the M6 because I am older and and wanted a lighter weight detector to swing and wanted the different tones that the regular MXT doesn't have , but the MXT Pro does have the various tones like the M6 . Don't think you would be sorry for purchaseing the M6 runs with the big boys just fine .

Awesome, what is a good coil for it, for trashy areas

Well thats a little tougher question cause most people form there own favorite coils to use as there is a wide Choice for that series of detectors . A lot like the 6x10 it is a good coil for general hunting and does trash well . But if you are going to hunt parks and places that have really bad trash something smaller would work better . I like the 4x6 whites Eclipse DD coil for super trashy spots . My reguler all around coil is a SEF 8x6 DD coil it works really well in trash also just a little bigger than the whites eclipse 4x6 and it is big enought for normal everyday detecting . If I hunt fields or big open areas I prefer the whites D2 coil or the 950 standard coil for those area's . They do make some 5 inch and 6 inch coils for the whites also but I have no experiance with any of those yet .

Here is my coil choices in parks and suspected trashy spots for the M6. I go with the 6x10 automatically, unless the M6 tones and display screen is sounding off like a casino slot machine every step. The 4x6 then comes out to play. They are both impressive coils but if it's SUPER trashy, the 4x6 is a killer. martin

Does the stock coil get good depth?

The stock coil is a good general coil with decent depth.I'm with Harold concerning the sef 8x6.....i think this coil is big enough to use as an eveyday coil but is better in trash, lighter, more sensitive and better in mineralised ground than the stock coil. Some of the tiny objects I have found using this coil have to be seen to be believed and for a smaller coil depth is outstanding.

Yes the 950 coil will get you good depth and it gives good ground coverage in bigger open area's , the type of minerized dirt your hunting in can effect how deep a coil will go for you. I switch to the 950 or the D2 for more ground coverage as far as depth the sef does just as good but doesn't cover as much area on your swing .

Have an M6 and its a decent machine . Have had it for about 5 months. It is a decent coin machine as is the Mxt as well . I also have a whites Dfx and for coin hunting its defiantly better than the M6 and Mxt . Thats because of the Dfxs superior id system the signagraph and its multi frequency . for jewelry there gonna all be close. Though for rings the Dfx is better than the Mxt or M6 once again because of the id system the signagraph. Depth goes to the Mxt M6 .I haven't found any gold yet with my M6 but hope to soon. Just got the 6 by 10 coil. It's defiantly a nice coil though not as deep as the stock coil. What is nicer about the 6 by 10 is for trashy beaches or parks it works better than the larger stock coil at picking off targets near each other and it sounds off targets cleaner than the stock coil. The sweep speed is also slightly smoother and faster with the 6 by 10 versus the stock coil.

This year I'm actually gonna dig the foil tones bc I want jewerly, when I first started metal detecting I accidently found a gold ring the first day ever using one, then I learned the machine and started only digging high tones and not found any jewelery since! At the end of the month I plan on buying a Minelab xterra 705 gold and a whites m6 or mxt, I'm just stuck between the m6 MXT and MXT pro

Have an xterra don't like it much . I have a Minelab Quattro and like it way more than the xterra. For Whites Mxt M6 Dfx Xlt and newest v3i all good

If you are going to dig a lot of foil targets, it really doesn't matter much which detector you use. BUT if you want to dig less foil and more rings, I think the M6 will serve you well. The M6 has well over 20 different coils that will work, including my favorite, the Bigfoot, for sports fields and jewelry hunting.

I have no experience with the MXT, but I have a M6 since 2006. I think that it is one of the best coin and jewelry detectors on you can get. If you can get the MXT PRO, I would get that, otherwise I would go with the M6.
