First let me say I did not hunt with the unit very long. When relic hunting I feel more comfortable with a unit I know pretty good and with the M6 being so new to me I was a little afraid of using it. But I did play around with it. I had an MXT and hated it. I had a DFX and liked it except for the programming all the time to get the most out of it and still not being certain I was getting all I could out of it. The M6 is more similar to...neither of them. I used it maybe an hour today and it is it's own animal. Way quieter and more stable than the MXT was here and it gets pretty good depth too. I hunted a little area we had pounded with the Tejon, X5, and Nautilus IIba. I didn't find any bullets or buttons but I did find two very small pencil eraser size pieces of camp lead about 5 inches down. So I'm pretty confident this thing is going to be able to hit a minie ball at pretty decent depths.
I like the grip setup on the M6. It's very comfortable and the trigger is very easy to get to. In playing with the unit on coins, I found that the Tone ID mode is probably NOT the mode of choice on this machine. It has a very noticable depth difference between the center trigger position and the forward Tone ID mode.
That's all I can say about it now. From what little I used it I liked it alot. I felt at first that if I were to buy a unit for myself that I would have went with the X-Terra 50. But now that I've used both I think I like the M6 better already. One thing to note though. I'm not a very tall person. I measure 6'0" on the dot. And the shaft is too short for me at its longest place. This isn't a detector for tall people. It should be just perfect for my wife though...which is who is going to be using the machine more than me.
