Whites M6 does it again!!!

New member
I went over to my friends house to find a pendant his wife lost a year and a half ago and my M6 didnt fail!!! 2 inches down with a VDI of +8 and a very raspy tone. The M6 is certainly one of the best!!

Nice job!
Was it. signal you ordinarily have dug if you weren't looking for a specific object?
Just curious.
I've been pondering whether to get a m6 or maybe a mx5...
Thanks for sharing!

Actually I normally search for old coins and have found a couple sterling rings in the process but this is my first gold with the M6. I probably would have dug it because of the low VDI and the different tome it gave out that set it apart from the rest of the trash signals. I had forgotten when I first got the M6 I tested it on my wifes 10k white gold ring and it also gave a solid but raspy signal. I know what to listen for now so my gold count should get higher. The M6 is awesome. I dont know about the MX5 but I hear its just as good but with a few more features. I am getting one soon but it will never replace my M6. I like the knob discrimination on the M6 for fine tuning rather than the notch on the MX5 and I prefer the icon displays on the M6 along with the confidence bars that the MX5 doesnt have. It comes to personal preference. Either detector would be a good choice. I just prefer certain things the M6 has that the MX5 doesnt have but the MX5 does have some cool user friendly features and thats why I am getting one to have as my second detector. I may let my wife use my M6 now and that is a big maybe lol. She may get the MX5 lol.

I agree the MX5 is a good machine, but I wouldn't say it offers more features then the M6. I like you, like the confidence bars , which the the MX5 doesn't have and when I ground balance my M6 I like to lock the ground balance, which I believe you cant do with the MX5. The one advantage the MX5 might have over the M6 is a back light. Its amazing that Whites can put a back light on a lesser machine but with all of their engineering wizardry and know how, can't seem to figure out how to put a back light on the M6. But on those really hot days and I hunt real early in the morning or late at night, I have the good ol' MXT Pro with a back light to fill in. But I really like my M6 for being a top end machine and simplicity combined in one machine. Its a great lil' machine.

Nice Save. You and your M6 made someones holiday a whole lot nicer.
I am liking my M6 more and more each day.
I bought the new coinmaster GT when it first came out, but found I did not like the notch discrimination nor the way it pin pointed and it went away.
I prefer to be able to adjust my detectors to what ever needs come up. Locking the auto track is a must have feature.
The information the m6 / MXT gives you, allows you to make quick and accurate decisions in the field.
It's hard to improve on perfection.

Yes it really did make their day. His wife was very excited and was almost in tears as she was shaking and jumping up and down throwing me kisses lol. It made it all worth it. I enjoy making people happy. I need to find more stuff like that for people but I wouldnt mind finding a few for myself as well. They offered me a reward but I refused telling them I enjoy the hobby besides he is my friend.

Great work on the pendant! Those small foil signals are very hard to pass up for, me if they are tight on the pin point I dig them, .
The seven tones are great allot of goodies are in that third tone.
Now that you have heard the "Small" gold in the ground with your M6 next time you'll be like hmm that was different. at least for me with each detector there is that gold barrier and once you pass it the gold starts coming more and more often.
Pendants and things like earrings have a much higher loss rate than rings I think If you concentrate on the small stuff the rings and coins are a given.
My silver count has almost tripled since switching to the mxt platform for my jewelry hunts. The Mx 5 sounds nice but the lack of a track lock bugs me and I hunt with no disc if I were to use the notch It would only be for -80 to -13 and its easy enough for me to just ignore that tone most the time. Whites has made too many variations of this machine not that they are bad but Why not put one in a waterproof to ten feet configuration?
GREAT signal intelligence on these machines.

Chris Turner from ring finders often times uses the m6 in his jewelry searches. He raves about the quality of this machine. I recently picked up the Eagle Spectrum. I noticed it was listed in your collection of detectors. Have you found any gold with Eagle or was it primarily a silver hound? I found two silver ring on the first outing with the Spectrum . I believe I may have stated improperly that Chris often times used the m6 on ring hunts. He may have at one point, but his primary dry land detector now is the Whites V3i. George

Hey broadestpoer I should change my signature lol. I traded the Eagle Spectrum back to the dealer I got it from for a 10dd coil, 5.3 coil, and a 4x6 dd shooter coil with rods and a black whites backpack to carry them all while hunting with my M6. I didnt hunt much with the spectrum as I primarily got it because I used to have one I bought new years ago and I got it mostly to collect as it is a great looking machine. It is hot on silver though. I didnt find gold but I am sure it will. Just listen hard to the tone so when you do find some you know exactly what it sounds like.

Yeah, thanks for the info about the Eagle.Your pendant find is awesome. That is a feeling hard to reproduce bringing someone happiness with a recovery of a lost item that means a lot to them. I was able to do it for a relative on vacation about 6 years ago. That's good stuff no doubt being able to bring closure in a positive manor! Enjoy HH. George
