Whites IDX Pro fell off the UPS truck...

well that's what I told my wife, do you think she'll believe me? Didn't think so.
This detector really amazed me on the bench testing I gave it as soon as I unwrapped it. One of my test targets is a fine ladies, piece of gold chain with no clasps on it.
The IDX Pro hits the chain easily at 4" with a loud definitely dig signal, using 950 coil, blacksand mode, no discrimination in discriminate mode, preset sensitivity. This matches my GMT, but the IDX can handle the mineralization much better, especially with the ground balance knob which I'll add later. Can't wait to hit the ocean beach tomorrow with this giant slayer.
This is one serious machine folks and I'd advise you guys to squirrel one away, get'em while you can, they are that good! Monte wasn't kidding! Thanks a million Monte, I'm so, stoked!

Somehow I can't repeat that test, now I only get 2.5 inches on the chain at full sens. Still better than my CZ.

Hello PennyFinder

They are a heck of a detector, had mine for two years now. I put on a 5.3 Bullseye coil on mine and it stays on full time. The IDX Pro is a definate sleeper and if your threshold is set right you can check the ground balance on your IDX........you may not need the modification for right now. Mine has the mods done and checked a friend's IDX out and his is just as hot as mine. Good luck with yours.

i have a idx pro, and when i am using it, if i get a weak signal that screams this is good, i kick it to black sand and turn the discrimination down, and its comes in better, does any one else do this

I have same detector minus the meter.A C3SL with Bills Mods. One thing I like about it IS the black sand mode.It you use it with this setting it works great for very small targets with small coil.If I use a larger coil with the same settings it makes a great relic detector.I use the black sand position often. It handles the bad ground with ease.If you set the black sand switch to normal and disc at min to search an area it will find some good lower conductors. Now set the black sand switch to black sand position and the disc to min and then search the same area and you will find even better lower conductors that you missed with the other settings.that is IF they are in the ground. Also you should be using a small coil to find the smaller stuff even though the the 9.5 does real good in the black sand mode. You have a great detector if you learn the language and use difference size coils. One of the best things to do is get the Mr. Bill mods and you will have a machine that will keep up with everything else out there.Maybe not prospecting because I have never used mine for that.It wasn't designed for it but it might find a nugget or 2 in the right ground conditions.Maybe someone else out there had used a IDX or one of the Classics for nuggets.I haven't read anything about it.Sorry to ramble but I love my Classic 3SL modified and just can't seen to put it down.It gets the job done!

The only one I've seen on ebay just sold today, sold for $295. I've been watching. I'll keep watching, until maybe just maybe... I have been told that a Prism might be just as good, what do you think? Anybody..
Thanks

Just get one off Ebay. Get one that says IDX, or classic XL both of which have three knobs and one toggle switch on the box. If you don't like it you can always resell it for about as much. You can have the Ground balance and threshold installed afterwards is you really latch on to it. It is a "classic" detector. I've done oner 20 different modifications on mine. If you upgrade to a XLT it will be really easy to pick up. Prisms are for girls.
