Whites GMT E Series

Hard Rock Hobbs

New member
Haven't seen anything on the GMT and thought it would be a popular Prospectors item. I am looking to purchase a prospectors metal detector soon and would like to hear others opinions as to the best for desert Gold . Most of the gold here is flour and slightly larger in veins. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank You, Hard Rock

There's a new Whites detector out GMZ.:whites:
More of a basic machine but may even be better than the GMT for gold.
Not much info on it so far.

Hi,

The GMZ is no match for the GMT. The GMZ is a good little unit for under $500 but was in no way intended to compete with the GMT. The GMT is an excellent prospecting detector with superb sensitivity to small gold. The only detector in its league is the Gold Bug 2, but most people will find the GMT easier to learn as it offers both manual and automatic ground balancing.

Gotta second what Steve said. The GMZ is a very capable "niche filler" (powerful, same coil, same frequency) but doesn't have discrimination and the "grunt" for iron.. A person who is an occasional hobbiest, enjoys not being discrimination dependent, works clean sites, and wants to save some cash...it'd be great.
