Whites GMT and Coins

I am getting a great deal on a GMT that I will use for nugget hunting. Can it be used for coins and relics or is it strictly gold nuggets only? Can the coil be changed out for improved coin and relic hunting?

Hi,

The GMT was designed for prospecting only, but it does have a great iron discrimination system. So as long as you dig all "not iron" targets you are ok, but you will dig lots of aluminum. The unit is overly sensitive to small trash, but you can get a feel of the target size from the nature of the audio signal. It is not a coin machine per se, but yes, you can find coins with it. And people that dig all non-iron targets often get surprised by exceptional finds.
