I bought this used and so far all I get is a lot of rattling when I try to use it. I've tried a lot of combination settings but seems like it just beeps and rattles a lot. Any suggestions or ideas?? tks

If you have tried setting the controls at every conceivable postion and various combinations, then you may have a defective MXT. You didn't mention whether you had more than one coil. It could be the coil instead of the machine. If you have access to another coil, give that a shot. If the machine still acts up or if you can't find another coil to test, then you should contact the guy you bought it from and see if it is still under warranty. If you can't get that information from the party who sold it to you, then contact Whites repair service as they provide the MXT with a 2 year TRANSFERRABLE warranty. If it were purchased less than 2 years ago, Whites should repair it free of charge. If it is not under warranty, it should be sent in anyway. Hope you get it up and running soon. HH

Oh it is not the detector. The MXT is great. I bought it new. I just bought the coil from someone. Maybe I'm just comparing everything to the little shooter .. I don't know.. I just know I love that coil.

I thought you meant the detector was acting up. I have both the Shooter DD and the larger Eclipse DD. Both work well for their design. I like the Shooter in trashy areas and the 6 X 10 (or 6 X 9 or whatever <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?"> ) in open areas. I can attest that side by side comparisons gave me about 30% greater depth with the larger coil. Not so for everyone I am sure. And no doubt some of those will post that on here. But, from my experience, that is the way it is. If it has a coil cover on it, that would be the first thing I would remove. Reminds me of a time I stuck a dime inside my buddy's coil cover. Didn't take him long to figure it out and for the last 20 years, he reminds me that my turn is coming! Good luck with the coil.

Sounds like you may have bought DUD. I have heard of a few of the 6x9's acting odd. Guess it could happen with any of them, main question, will the person you got it from make it right ?? I hope so, sounds like it's a bad coil, all DD's should be smoother than the stock. Good luck, you ever thought about the 5 inch excellerator coil ?? AWESOME little coil and the 14 is a monster !!
