Whites Eclipse 8x14 DD Search coil

Well-known member
I have posted several times on the forum here about a new search coil for my MXT PRO for relic hunting. In doing more research I have come across yet another coil to throw into the mix. Has anyone here by any chance used the 8x14 DD coil for relic hunting? If so what are your thoughts? I've pretty much narrowed my search down to 3 coils. 1) The Whites Super 12' Concentric coil, 2) The Whites D2 coil, or 3) The Eclipse 8x14 DD coil. I am looking for a coil that will have good depth, good ground coverage, and won't be quite so heavy to swing. I have ruled out the 13' and the 15' coils as they would be I feel a bit too heavy and cumbersome. I'm a careful shopper and just want to be sure to get what would best benefit the MXT. I'd hate to get a coil and realize I'd made a $ mistake. Again, any input or feedback would be greatly appreciated and taken into consideration as well. Thanks in Advance. Kevin

I haven't heard many people saying they like the D2.

Kevin, there is nothing wrong with the stock coil for relic hunting, but if you want another coil for a little extra depth and coverage, the 8X14 DD is a very heavy coil with good coverage but average depth, not a very popular coil. For relic hunting I would suggest the Detech 13" DD or the 10X12 SEF.

Hi Kevin.

What Larry said. Nothing wrong with the stock coil.

Having the D2 and the 6x10 Eclipse DD all I can say is I like the 6x10 much better. Pinpoint is dead on and has brilliant target separation.
The Super 12" is good in clean grounds, but if you're going trash littered areas you better get a excavator and a mesh.
Had a detech coil and wasn't surprized so my suggestion for another DD would also be a 10x12 SEF; never had one but only heard good things about.
And the DD 1400 Deep Scan Eclipse is heavy...HEAVY.

Using the 950ish stock and the 6x10 here for all kinds of hunting and do not feel I'm missing something.

Hope this helps a little...

I have a 10+12 sef and it works good in ground that has sand and dirt mix but just sand I had no luck I like the coil for relic hunting. But that's me.
