Whites Eagle

I have just purchased a Eagle metal detector, and all I read says you can upgrade to Eagle II. Is there something wrong with the Eagle, as to why you upgrade.

The original Eagle (I got to field test one for a dealer in order to compare notes) had a few issues. Whites released an upgrade in the form of a computer chip the dealers could install. For one the detector became more stable with the new chip. The Eagle was big leap in how we interfaced with detectors, computerized software driven vs analog and knobs. I suggest you Google for Eagle field tests and reviews from that period around the time it came to market 1988, my memory isn't the best. Download the manual from Whites and you will be able enjoy getting to know your Eagle. I spent 12 years using the Eagle 2 SL 90.5 and did well with it.

but good luck in trying to find the upgrade chip. they are very hard to find. but if you do find one you will like the stability it makes on the eagle 1
