Whites Eagle Spectrum/On Beach or Not?

Hi all,
I live in Key West, Fl and have a chance for a nice Eagle Spectrum att a great price.
Been out of it for about 6 years and want to start back up.
Sure I would love to go out and buy a dedicated water rig, but can not justify it when I am just starting back.
Will she work good in dry sand and a little shallow water hunting?
ANy input would be greatly appreciated.
Joey

The dry sand.....no problem in zero mineralization Florida....it will operate just as well as on dry land in FL......wet sand.........it will be moderately/severely affected. Only a handful of VLF detectors, specifically designed for wet sand, will give decent performance in the wet. The Spectrum is not one of those machines. My 2 cents......
However, perhaps some nice Spectrum/XLT forum members can give you tips to get the maximum depth in the wet. Volunteers?:)

Joey,

I have a QXT that does pretty good on the east coast beaches. Its not as good as a dedicated beach hunter on the wet salt sand, as you know, but it doesnt have the high price tag to go along with it either.

A few good soft sand finds will surely help fund a newer unit.

I just listed one on the classifieds too.

Dry sand it will work great. Get yourself a BigFoot coil for it. Wet salt sand not so much (4"-5" on a quarter). Shallow fresh water it will work fine as long as you keep the box dry.
