Can anyone tell me anything about this detector?

Here is a pic of the detector in question. Anyone ever used one of these? What do you know about it and what approximate year did it come out?

Very similar to the eagleII sl 90.5 that I use regularly.Manual is available on Whites website. The one I use will compare with the latest and greatest out there.Found an Ala belt plate just two weeks ago.Very deadly on silver in pp mode with tone id.Good luck DBULL

I believe the Eagle came out in the mid 80s. The Eagle II in the late 80s and the Eagle II sl in the late 80s and early 90s. There was a chip you could buy to upgrade the Eagle to the Eagle II. I am on my fourth Eagle II sl after trying all the top of the line detectors out there and I agree with David that the Eagle II sl will hold it's own with any detector out there in decent ground. Many of the new detectors have faster recovery times and separate targets better but are somewhat noisy and the numbers jump around. The Eagles have very good discrimination and when equipped with a small coil do very well in trash. Some said it was to complicated to program but I find it much better than scrolling through different screens and menus. One of Whites best machines in my opinion.

Yours was the first Eagle 1987 / 1988 The first two wear the Blue Box and the other two 1989 / 1990 had a Black Box I have the Eagle II SL 90
I know the Eagles, If you have any Questions PM me , Mickfin

I was wondering do all the Eagle detectors have tone I.D. and modulated audio where the deeper the target the softer the tone ? Also is there anyway to tell a 90 from a 90.5 ? Thank's

The 90.5 has a rotary signal(ground?) balance knob on the front of the detector opposite the cable connector.DBULL

I believe in that era a chip was introduced to improve the original. Double stacked and like a chinese puzzle to set up. Came with a stock 8 inch coil and not as deep as the later versions 1989 on to 90.5 which came in a black box and a more ergonomic design. As far as differences between was covered in one sentence and from a 90 to 90.5 slightly different relic program.
Used or owned every model and seems like every year from 87 to 90.5 minor changes were made. As far as the signal balance knob both 90 and 90.5 had it on the front but then again could have been two versions of the 90.5 as been a long time and ones memory fades..All in all many feel the later models 90-90.5 were as good as the XLT and thats where it stopped after they came out with a 1.1 version. Have to agree they were great detectors ahead of their time and once the ergonomics were changed in later models with memory features certainly would give an XLT a run for its money. If this confuses you so many changes even though minor thru 77 and 90.5 I would imagine Whites would have to give you all the info reading from their archives..
In addendum add the 9.5 coil for more depth and Jimmy Sierra made a bolt on armrest(like needle in haystack to find) but had one way back when) and you have a nice unit.

All of the owners manuals from the Eagle1, 1987 to the Eagle Sprectrum, 1995 are here: http://whiteselectronics.com/info/manuals.html

They must still be very popular machines I just saw an Eagle II SL on E-bay goe for 455.00. I wonder if Whites can still repair them ?

I think they still have parts for their detectors from 50 years ago. Has anyone heard of a White's detector that they will not fix, or can't?

Larry,
I don't know about other models, but White's had parts for a 1982 model 6000 series two that I have kept for years. Impressed me!!

However as good as they are certain parts for early eagles are at a premium but Whites excells for service after the sale even with oldie but goodies...

I have 1 copy of each of the books in the picture, if you think one of these may interest you just let me know

Dbull, I have a Eagle II SL 90 N know it well, But what is a Ala belt plate????? Mickfin

Alabama state issue belt plate-less than ten known, map on tree.

I actually just purchased a Eagle II. Its an upgrade from a 5900 Di Pro. Lets say I'm easing into the digital detector world! lol Ive downloaded the manual from whites , can anyone tell me if there are more books or vhs videos of this machine? I thought Jimmy Sierra had a manual out at one time many moons ago. Does anyone have any that could be photo copied . I would be interested
