White's Eagle II SL won't turn on. Any ideas to help?

I have not used my Eagle II SL in about a year and now it won't turn on. I of course tested the batteries and tried 2 diff. bat. packs but the screen won't even blink. Before I send it back to White's I thought I would see if anyone else has had this problem & how they resolved it. Thank you for any ideas.

Did you try cleaning the terminal points?? and pulling them out toward you just a little. Or did you maybe install the c batteries in the battery pack wrong..Thats easy to do by error.

I can't see why a detector can go bad sitting in a closet? Did your old batteries leak into the detector? I have had to solder the rivets to the springs before for a good connection.

I have found 3 things that will go bad on the Eagle.
First make sure batterys are making contact
Or its that touch pads Or it the power transformer.(Sometime the ribben wire in the pod will work lose or in he box on the main board,Check that wire first)

I have solved the problem. Although each of the C cells tested good on a battery tester, they apparently were not strong enough to turn the detector on. I tried a new set of batteries and it worked. Thanks to all of you who forwarded tips and ideas to solve my problem

That's what it took to get my Eagle ll SL90 up and running again a few weeks ago after it sat about eight years. I pulled the battery contacts forward a bit, reworked the battery pack contacts, cleaned them and although the batteries tested o.k. they did not have enough voltage collectively for the four cells to power on and operate the unit. Fresh new batteries put me back in business. How's your hunting with the SL90 going?
